How does one obtain a referral to see an SP? It seems kind of ridiculous to be asked for a referral in pooning business.. But nonetheless, I was asked by an SP recently to obtain a referral before she would agree to see me. Does anyone know how to go abouts this? Thanks.

I would think you simply provide the name of a couple of sps that you have seen before and she will contact them herself. If you can't do that, simply ask her what else can be provided. It is more often used for things like overnight visits or traveling, but I suppose some sps may require them for shorter appts. It seems to be really common in the US which I suppose has a lot more to do with the sp needing to avoid LE rather than avoid bad clients.
some local bylaws are such that the ladies require some sort of id confirmation so that she can be confident that you are not LE and she's not going to find herself in jail with a nice size fine 
the intent is definitely not to invade your privacy...
I offer references for my regulars all the time when they travel to the states... and it is pretty standard procedure there
a reference from a lady u've seen before is way less invasive than providing other types of id confirmation
a pm through a local board where you have a posting history is also another non-invasive way to confirm id
