Burnaby Kawasaki has good prices on Vanson gear, which is top of the line gear.

If you can wait a few months, wait for the Vancouver Motorcycle Show - which will be held at the Tradex in Abbotsford on January 24-27, 2008. All the major brands and local dealers are present and there are often very good sales on motorcycle gear of all types. Or go to Seattle for the Seattle Motorcycle show, which is often held in December (Google the name and you should come up with the dates and location) as the strong Canadian dollar may result in some good bargains there.

If this is your first bike, or if you have not ridden a lot, then I strongly recommend you take one of the motorcycle safety courses - such as the one offered through the BC Safety Council.

I just buy my stuff out of the States, motorcycles and parts come back duty free.

I bought some pants in Seattle last week for $189 us and they are over $300 here.

Ride safe, GSXR's a lot of bike (I rode one for about 14 yrs). Taking a riders course is a great idea and can help you be ready for the road, I know I wouldn't have done it any other way. Port Moody has some stores that have great prices on leathers.

Since this is your first bike, I highly recommend that you DON'T buy anything bigger than a 500cc.
that said buy a 250cc or a 500cc ninja they have good resale value and once you have riding experience you can allways upgrade.
find a low milage ninja or if it has more than 20000 km check to see if it has had a recent valve job (Kawasaki's are notorious for needing valve job's around 20000 km)
