Know what? I'm a newbie too... probably have less posts than you do, doosh. However, I've NEVER been flamed, talked to nasty, or insulted... Why? Because I follow some basic rules, that apply on any and every forum I've ever been on:
Search. This is a big one. Use the search feature. I already get frustrated when I see a new guy post saying "ISO <insert whatever here>" because I know that they could have used less bandwidth by pressing a button (search, at the top right of any page) and putting in the phrase.
Don't flame, or respond to it if flamed. Lotsa guys (and gals) here are just looking for attention. Negative or positive, it don't matter. Makes them feel special that so many people are responding to their posts.
Ignore stuff you don't want to know about, or don't care about... Sounds simple, right? Well, a bunch of guys don't do this, and that's why a lot of these flame wars start.
Don't waste bandwidth. What's this mean? Don't post messages that are a waste of space. Granted, this is relative, but use (un)common sense.
I don't think I'm better than anyone else. Smarter than some, dumber than others, maybe, but better? Nope. A few might, but just because somebody isn't accepted as a long-lost brother after showing up a couple times on a board, doesn't mean that the other members think they're better or anything like that. Guys come and go, some are shills, some just want to read the board and jerk off. Throw up a bunch of good reviews, comments, etc, and you'll find people start getting a lot more friendly.
To sum up: If people started pretending that they weren't hiding behind a keyboard with an anonymous name, a LOT of the problems that have run rampant lately here would never have started.
