I enjoy movies. I sometimes will be watching a movie and want to share a moment of it with others. I often never get around to posting about it, and the moment is lost and forgotten. I thought I would start my own thread and just post random ramblings about movies I've recently watched.... in no particular order... here we go...

Gladiator 3 disc extended edition

I had the original 2 disc edition. One of my favourite movies of all time for various reasons.

Original had 6.1 DTS sound, and excellent picture quality. However, rush to get it released resulted in several "white flashes" and other "grain" in the picture at times.

New release has 17 minutes of additional footage added back in, making it almost 3 hours long. Unfortunately, that meant not being able to squeeze a DTS track on the disc. Picture quality is better than the original 2 disc set (they cleaned up a lot of the dirt like they did for the Star Wars movies), but unfortunately sound quality is not the same.

Quite sad really... they should have put the movie on 2 discs like Pearl Harbor so they could get the best PICTURE AND SOUND... New Version of Titanic coming out this year will be on 2 discs.

Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard not winning the oscar for best score was highway robbery.

One of the best movies for costumes and set design. Absolutely stunning visuals by Ridley Scott as usual. Lucilla is one of my favourite female movie characters of all time. I love strong women... "if only you'd been born a man... what a Caesar you would have made"

I loved all the outfits Lucilla wore too... fast forward that 2000 years and that's how I'd want my woman to dress... like an Empress!

Alien 4

What happened to you?

"I was violated, but now I get to be mother of the year." (the delivery of this sarcastic line by Ripley is just classic!)

"She's a Queen. She'll breed. You'll die."

Who are you?

"I'm it's mother."

I thought you were dead?

"Yeah I get that a lot."

Quirky fact: That scene where Ripley throws the basketball backwards without looking and gets nothing but net is not a camera trick. She practiced really hard and on the FIRST take, it went in! She would have won the million dollars at half time! If you look closely, 1 of the costars breaks character and starts to go "NO WAY!"... so they have to cut right before he completely breaks character. This was talked about in the bonus features.

One Last Dance

Anybody else into Ballet movies like me? I loved that movie Center Stage. I just have a soft spot for Ballet dancers (even though it pains me that many of them starve themselves to maintain weight). There's nothing I love more than to see a nice spinner with a small A or B cup chest dancing beautifully to the music. It's so damn artistic and a turn on (not in a sexual way).

Anyways, I'm in the middle of watching One Last Dance with Patrick Swayze. Will let you know how it is after I'm done. In the mean time, can anybody recommend any good Ballet movies?

Pulp Fiction

Can I have a sip of that 5 dolla milkshake?

God Damn, that's a pretty fuckin' good milkshake...
I dunno it's worth 5 dollas, but it's pretty fuckin' good...

(words alone cannot describe how John Travolta delivers these lines... it's all in the delivery...)

I love the above scene. I saw this movie in 94, again in 96 on video, but 9 years later, I have a new appreciation for this movie. It's not violent like people said. If you watch it closely and really understand the movie, it's about redemption and it's not really a violent movie at all. The ass fucking was probably the most objectionable part of the movie.

Man can Tarantino write dialog... he has some of the most memorable lines ever.

I gotta go now... It's time for a "Royale with Cheese..." jk

Ginger Snaps 3 - Gingers Snaps Back

Got off to a slow start, but picked up steam and I enjoyed it. I like the sub plot of the sisters being loyal to each other and "together forever." The drawback about this movie is that it is essentially the same movie as part 1 except set in a different time period... and it didn't have the humour part 1 did.

Overall, I liked part 1 the best, followed by part 3 (actually considered a prequel, but with the 2 main actors playing different roles who happen to have the same name as in part 1), and then finally part 2.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Just because I watched this tonight:

Indy has just witnessed what he believes to be the death of Marion, and is sitting in a Cairo teahouse talking with the man he holds responsible: the evil french archeologist Belloq. Indy is barely able to restrain himself from pulling out his gun and shooting the oily bastard:

----

Belloq: "You and I are very much alike. Archeology is our religion, yet we have both fallen from the pure faith. Our methods have not differed as much as you pretend. I am but a shadowy reflection of you. It would take only a nudge to make you like me. To push you out of the light."

Indiana Jones: "Now you're getting nasty..."

----

Ah, I remember a time when Harrison Ford could act...
