Edmonton Police have closed down three businesses they say were running bawdy houses in Edmonton.

They started investigating a complaint in April. Vegas Spa on 101st Street at 105th Avenue, Kingsway Spa on 118th Avenue at 104th Street, and Escape and Relax Massage on 118th Avenue at 65th Street have now been shut down.

Pierre Lussaint, 54, is charged with three counts of keeping a common bawdy house, and one count of living off the avails of prostitution.

While police were at one location, they found a woman being sexually asaulted. Hermes john Temraz, 43, is charged with sexual assault and being found in a common bawdy house

No still means no even in a massage studio. Long time coming for karma to repay Peter.

And of course they could bust every studio in the City if they wanted.

I'm guessing it was one of his ladies who complained about his treatment.

Ah! Now I am finally putting two and 2 together...

The lady was assaulted by the "client" (a bastard no doubt!) and called the police for help. They arrived to find a common bawdy house in operation. Then, looking further, they found the other two as well and busted all three.

Good for the police!!

Well, I'd steer clear of the micros and asian places for a while. And no, I have nothing against them... I'm just saying. Unless you want to be the guy being charged with 'assault'.
I have to agree with Lilith on this one. Guess I will be cutting back significantly.

The "Heat" that started with Vish ...

and the sucessful Police charges upheld by the Courts, are of concern to all MP's. I mentioned this when the Vish issue arose and was put down by many PERBites that it was just directed at him. I doubt very much the action is directed at male owners. I suspect anyone complaining about a MP can get the same action started.

This puts the entire industry, licensing and policing on a very slippery slope. The unlicensed Micros have always been subject to By Law Enforcement ("BLE"). That situation remains unchanged and BLE has chosen to take no steps. The charges laid against Vish/Peter are under the Federal Criminal Code and are laid by LE no BLE. I think these charges could embarass BLE into changing the licensing and could result in any MP offering sexual services being investigated with or without a complaint. This is very bad timing given the reduced revenues already in the industry.

Bottom line: the MP industry is under seige and it is very unpredictable what the final outcome will be. An obvious push by the SP's will be to start escorting with or without a license. This same trend in Calgary several years ago literally destroyed the MP business and forced the SP's to Escort or be on the streets. This does not appear to be a very good policy but zealots tend to move ahead blindly.

My 2 cents ... T

Question

Darvhinder , I'm curious as to why you consider the male owners pimps and not the female owners as well . The job description looks the same .

Its pretty clear that every MP is pretty much a "bawdy house"... I don't know why they haven't moved on these places years ago. Everyone pretty much knows what goes on in these places... either legalize it or enforce it. Pick one. Don't leave owners/workers/clients in doubt.

I dunno, my friend. While I don't profess to be an industry insider or anything like that, my own cold logic tells me that if Boyd and his boys really wanted to target the MP business then they would have taken out the big fish first - Revive, Legends, 50th. This board has been around since 2002 - that is 7 years worth of evidence that they could have acted on a long long time ago, so why wait til now? As Neil Young's best song goes, there's more to the picture than meets the eye.

I agree that staying away from the Micros is a good idea. As for the asian places, we should also include ukrainian, or irish places too. Damm leprechauns can't do a decent back rub anyway...too short :D

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is a Micro? Tried to search the forum and read the faq already....

It sounds like SP's that run out of an apartment or house?
The micros are unlicensed places where girls who are brought into town ply their trade. The girls are usually unlicensed, no criminal checks, and the micros operate out of residential areas where regular families live.

The micros might be touched but that's only if a person who lives in the building complains.
Also the micros in Edmonton the girls are all here as visitors and get moved around so much that it all looks good. Plus stats show us you have a better chance of getting in trouble at a MP since the Asian micros are 100% LE free while we have 4? Shut down MPs. Also is it not much more paper work to go after a residence? If there are no illegal visitors inside they can't go after them. Every micro I know of that gets shut down has girls who are illegaly in Canada so they go in with immigration. Fact of the matter is don/kents IS safer than a MP.

We all know that MPs are selling sex, but the clean discreet studios are not going to be touched.
No one has any complaints about them. My god there was a guy with a custom plate on his BMW at legends last night, people aren't afraid to be seen going into the place because normal people just drive right by and aren't troubled by the place.

Untill a real studio is shut down I would not be concerned.

I'm gonna have to agree with you there.

Until we see trouble at one of the nicer studios I'm not gonna get
their panties in a knot.

Nervous Pooner Calls It Quits

Ever since I heard the news story last evening I've been thinking about my pooning habit and whether I ought to continue.

I've always been a nervous pooner. Over the years for every 20 days that I sit at my desk and think of going to a MP after work, I only go once. This fear has tempered by pooning down to once or twice a month.

The reason for reluctance has always been the fear of getting caught which would cause family humiliation, relationship problems, professional difficulties (possibly forced resignation).

My initial pooning efforts were to visit the residences of girls I met off of Grapevine and other phone "dating" services. After being robbed by a boyfriend in a back room, I decided that MPs were a safer bet. I also came to the conclusion that the girls at MPs were more likely to be clean.

Over the last 3 years I've met some great ladies and had some great times (not just sexual). Unfortunately, this is the end for me. I've always been afraid of LE busting into a MP while I was in there and now I know it's happening for real. If I were to go back to a MP my fear of getting caught would outweigh my enjoyment of the experience.

If the MP scene gets taken out I can see more issues happening in other area's. Some guy who is pissed off at his wife can go have a session with a SP at a MP and get some satisfaction he is not getting at home.

If the guy does not have this avenue anymore, he might take out his frustrations on his wife or GF.

Getting tensions built up not having this hobby to unwind in with guys being turned down by women in bars and not having the MP route to go to if he needs it.

I can see more sexual assault situations happening if they crack down more on MP's

I Wish I were In HB40's Position

However, because of my job and because of my relationship status, I do need to give a fuck what people think.

I think by illegal we know they are working illegally, not in Canada illegally. They typically hold a tourist or student visa and this does NOT allow them to earn or work while here. It would be the same thing if an American or British citizen showed up to work. It would be both a bylaw licensing issue & an immigration issue lol. Also, the traffic in and out of the suite is usually what gives them up -- a little discretion or care in location choices can go a long way. As you say, it is the resident/neighbour complaint that will do them in at the end of the day.
