Why does this city neglect the Lions and the Giants?

I don't get it. The Lions have been the class of the CFL the last 6 years, hosting 5 playoff games and getting to two Grey Cup championships, winning one.

The Giants have made the playoffs every year but one since entering the WHL, have 3 division titles, a WHL Championship, a Memorial Cup, and have started the year 13-0-3. The Giants, don't rebuild, they reload.

Yet this city, for the most part, could care less. It's heart is with the Canucks, a team that wins nothing, is horribly inconsistent and from a hockey operations standpoint, has been a diiappointment for the life of the franchise. People seem to like to flush $100+ down the toilet instead of seeing the other two teams for a fraction of that price. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! This team doesn't deserve the kind of loyalty it's given when you have two winners elsewhere who have produced so much more and dersebre so much more love.

Vancouver and Toronto are very much alike...

both cities are elitist and think they are the center of the universe...

any team that is not in the NHL, NFL, NBA, or MLB is beneath them...

It just goes to show that true Canuck fans don't have any use for the bandwagon. You're either a Canuck fan, or you aren't. I go to watch the Canucks play and thoroughly enjoy the game. If you consider it flushing money down the toilet just because they don't win, then you'll never understand what it means to be a loyal fan of the game, nor the team.

The Giants last year had the 4th highest attendance in the CHL.
Out of 60 teams. So I don't think they can be considered neglected.

I've been a Habs fan since birth in a market that is hostile toward them at the best of times, so don't tell me about loyalty. The Canucks, historically, don't draft well and with the exception of the Luongo deal, have made some horrible player personnel decision (Cough Cam Neely, Mark Messier Cough) My Habs have made 3 Cup finals in my lifetime, winning two, along with several division titles and have one of the best pool of prospects in hockey. They've had some lean years recently but righted the ship. The Canucks are always a wait and see team. Hard to bank on that. I'll support a team through highs and lows but the Canucks lows far outnumber the highs.

Neglected by the media and the masses. The Giants do have a strong season ticket base but when was the last time you heard your co-workers talk about the Giants over the Canucks? I know the Giants are a minor hockey team but one that gives its fans something to cheer about. The Canucks fans leave most seasons feeling disappointed. The Giants leave people wanting more. Who deserves more support? Who deserves more acclaim? For my money, the Giants.

I love the CHL you get the young and upcomming NHL stars. It's great to see the hussle these guys have. If you want to see ' pure hockey' Go see a CHL game. I've been to 5 games this year and it gets the pride in hockey back in you more than the NHL ever would. Go Raiders.

(PPS - I like watching hockey, but I refuse to shell out $100 per ticket. Hockey is entertaining...but its not that entertaining. I don't understand why people would bother paying that kind of money for a sporting event when you can use $100 for so many other more entertaining options.)
Because for thousands of people (including myself) there is nothing more entertaining than going to the game. $100??? Maybe for the left half of my seat. Club seats all the way!

I sometimes find it hard to figure out where people come up with money to sit rinkside at NHL games. You can go to the teams websites and next to the glass its upwards of 250 bucks. Now some might say hey you guys pay 200 for an hour with an SP, but sex and intimacy is a basic human need that has to be filled going to a game for 500 bucks for 2 is not.

In cities that struggle like Midwest cities I really find it hard to see where these rich people are coming out of. For example in St. Louis go to a Blues games. Look at the people who work the foods stands. Every single one of the them is black. I went once 2 years ago and not one concession stand worker was not black. You cant tell me that is a properous city, its screams social problems.

Baseball In Vancouver? Do you know the word boring? 162 games for me to fall asleep to. I dont know how grown men can have careers around that stuff except its good exercise and the money is great. But I would go nuts in that dugout watching 162 games.

There is a higher caliber of hockey in the NHL than the CHL.
That is why the Canucks games are always sold out.
We also have some very loyal fans, who realize that being loyal means you don't just see 'your' team when they are winning.

As far as the NBA goes, I think Vancouver got screwed. I don't think they intended Vancouver to have the Grizzlies long term.
The number of games that I attended were all sold out, so they were very popular.
