As a kid growing up, what did you want to be? What changed?
As a kid I always knew I wanted to become a Rancher ,or join the Military.
I did my stint overseas, and it turned into a nightmare....so I went with my original dream, and had some tough times, after buying a bare piece of land that was way to big...but life is good now.
I then had a brief Body Guard , and personal security position for visiting VIP's....another teenage dream.
My rather big mouth, and opinions didn't allow me to hold that job for long...apparently celebrities, and politicians don't like being told they're acting like assholes.

I did go through a brief time of wanting to be head brass pole polisher in a strip club....but the girls don't take kindly to some hayseed farm kid ,jumping up on stage ,to become the cleaning crew during their show.
So I was demoted to Door Man, and tossed Bikers around for awhile....Ranching in bear country is much safer.

Had to google psychoneuroimmunologist lol.

The movie Smokey and the Bandit came out when I was 11 years old and ever since then I was hooked on big trucks. I built model trucks as a teenager and fantasized driving one of these big boys one day. There was also a tv series back in the 70's called BJ and the Bear (BJ didn't mean what you think, the stars name was Billy Joe Mckay and Bear was actually a monkey). My dream job was to drive trucks. Over 30 years later, I'm still in a truck, or back in a truck.

I've switched gears a few times (pun intended). From a rookie driver to dispatching (office life is not for me) to owning my own rig to owning a small fleet (did I say office life is not for me?). Now a days I'm down to one truck which I operate every day.

Trucking took me to every corner of Canada and the U.S. I've been to every major city from Miami to Anchorage, from San Diego to St. Johns Nfld and everywhere in between.

I did find out that trucking is not nearly as glamorous as the movies portrayed but I still enjoyed it.

My favorite part of trucking is when I came home after 2 weeks on the road. My kids were young and it was like a soldier coming home from Afghanistan. They would invite their friends over in anticipation of my return to show off daddy's big truck.

My kids are grown now, my oldest just turned 30. My heart beamed while at his birthday get together, he was telling stories of the times he came with me during his summer break every year.

I only had one dream. EVER

To play in the NHL for the NY Rangers as the next Brian Leetch.

Nothing else as a youth or young person held my interest.

Check your closet..:)
I wanted to be a Proctologist ...then I realised there were to many assholes in the world not worth saving.

So I joined the Military..... where a warning shot didn't always mean shooting in the air.

Archaeologist.

I'm dyslexic with numbers, and that was a major requirement.

What about you, Elsi?

Yeah that's a good question ...what about you Elsi?

I figure it will be building micro breweries, or experimental sex toy test pilot.
Someone had to ride a Sybian sex machine for the first time, to make sure it didn't rattle a girls teeth loose.

When I was 8 I wanted to be an accountant lol

My parents wanted me to be a doctor but knew in university that wasn’t for me

Went to law school thinking that would be a good choice, when I graduated I didn’t practice.

Had a friend starting a tech company and decided to work with him not knowing anything about tech. I fell madly in love with what I was doing and that was my dream job. Even with no tech background I became incredibly proficient and worked 16-18 hour days and loved it. It was the combination of working with someone I really got along with and enjoyed and there was so much passion in what we were doing. I remember times where I’d wake up at 4am, so excited to go to work that I would just go to work at 4am!

Sadly the company grew very big and we took a buyout. I know that sounds like a dream due to the money, which it was. Ironically I was super lost after that business. I had no sense of what to do next. I ended up started a few businesses in finance and international trade, the former of which is great for income but the other one, which just started recently making money is what drives me which is my new love.

I consider myself extremely blessed and grateful because I sort of fell into a dream job but I think the best thing is to work with people you really like. It feels like playing and not work when you have a great team.

In my late teens and early 20's I worked the lift areas of several different ski areas in Europe and North America including Whistler. Best job I ever had I loved it, looking back I should have stuck with it, who knew it would blossom as big as it did here. Fresh air, lots of skiing great exercise and your choice of babes at the end of the day, the party scene damn near killed me, had to pass the torch to the next generation.

Born and bred to be a fisherman. Best job in the world, descent money now, wasn't always that way when I had a mortgage. Actually had to become a pipefitter to support my fishing habit. 6 more years and I can semi retire and go back fishing full time. Nothing better than being your own boss, at least for me anyway.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
In my teens to play professional football in the CFL. Got a scholarship to play at U of Sask. 2 try out camps (no combines back in those days) with Stamps and Riders but no further and the dream died.
Went on to a couple of other things, which I enjoyed, then settled into my current career for the past +25 years.
Have the odd day I feel like walking away but in general I feel lucky to get to do something every day I enjoy and get paid well, to do it.

Cheers
J

Bikini Inspector. I remember when I was really young on vacation with my family in Hawaii, Crazy Shirts had shirts with that printed on it. I always wondered...how does someone get that job?

I loved doing finance. I love the art of debits and credits and amortization rates and shares... I wasn't very good at it, relative to my blowjob skills, but I kept my head down and worked hard when I was there.

Also loved being a car courier. That was a job I very much excelled at.

It reminds me of wearing a "Sex Instructor" badge. In hindsight, I definitely was not qualified for the job at the time.
