What is the deal with massage parlors / spas?

Hey,

I see adds on leolist that explicitly states the Spas where one can see escorts.

I am wondering if it's legal to go there? If not, why don't the law enforcement do anything?Am trying to get an idea of the risk.

Also....Do people in surrounding area generally know what happens at these places?? There is one close to one of my favorite restaurant that I frequent and would be a bit embarrassing to go there after...

My guess, it's one of those "turn a blind eye" with a mix of "semantics"....

Keep it off the street, out of sight/out of mind, don't bother the NIMBYs....hush hush wink wink...."two consenting adults, gifting money to each other"...

As long as the girls are legal and willing, then it's probably safer to run these spas and parlours under the disguise as actual 'spas' and 'massage therapy clincs', as opposed to have obvious street walkers loitering peaceful neighbourhoods.
