Be informed, be careful, and keep your eyes open.

I should have followed my instincts and Id never gone in that place, but I learned a valuable lesson. (and I got out of there in one piece)

i had a close call this past winter at the pan pacific hotel in vancouver, thank god i followed my instincts and ran out of the hotel with my girlfriend. within the 5/10 minutes it took to get home we were falling down and blacking out from only a couple glasses of wine!!

This would have happened whether an agency was invoved or not. I understand it occured in a social atmosphere and not during a session. (And from the sound of your post, you don't have much heart... no guessing required.)

This working girl had no backup? 2 days is a long time to be 'off the radar' - 2 hours later someone should have been knocking down the door. Cellphones have GPS in them and hell, you can track your dog on-line nowadays...

I can't imagine anybody checking into a Sheraton truly 'anonymously' - even if you pay cash they want some photo ID. During Stampede they do not need to take any questionable customers. If the staff are in cahoots, the cops and the hotel security should be VERY interested. They have more than a doorman who can ID someone. There are cameras too, they watch the customers AND the staff - can't trust anybody these days.

One thing about cops - if the ones you have been assigned don't seem 'motivated'; shop around, cross jurisdictions, call politicians, make a fuss, hire your own investigator (who can motivate cops), or lawyer for advice, call the papers and TV, whatever you can dream up - but DO NOT come across as a crackpot. Just let them see you are a 'force to be reckoned with' and won't stand for any BS.

Once you find someone who IS interested - things can progress very quickly - Cops have a LOT of resources and power at their disposal - but they don't just waste it. It's up to YOU to motivate them if they don't do it for themselves...
