Thailand -- A bunch of Questions

I think theres some misinformation being spread here as well. Thats why I tell people to do their own research. Especially when it comes to an issue as serious the risks of HIV/AIDS.

As for the above post, you cant just look at one set of stats such as the transmission rates for the entire population of a country.
For example, 3 countries could have the same infection rate yet the demographics could tell a different story. In one country, the majority could be IV drug users. In a second it could be homosexual men. And in the third, a majority could be commercial sex workers. Similarily how in N.A. HIV is quickly increasing in seniors. Its different everywhere so straight comparisons arent fair.

Excellent research! Should calm some of the hysterical mis-information out there.

Okay, say the % HIV is the same over there with there ‘bar girls’ as it is with our ‘escorts’. How many local escorts are you guys getting? 1 a month maybe 2? Over there you are getting as much tail in one week as many get in a year here…so hypothetically my little 6 week holiday in the land of smiles could put me at the same risk as a local escort hunter with 6 years experience under his belt.

I mean if you won a free 1-week all inclusive package to a cathouse in Vegas (yah yah dream on ) I really don’t think it would be any different then one week in Pattaya Thailand…as far as risks as per say…

I screwed everything in sight while I was over there but then again I always do. Bagged it up and showered after a good session (local thing, girls always shower before and after sex) the only thing I got was a bad case of salmonella poisoning from a chicken pizza.

Unfortunately most things in life that bring us Pleasure also have their inherent risks, just be safe, and have fun.

It’s a expat news site (unfortunately not as good as it used to be) anyway the leading cause of death for foreign travels coming to Thailand for a little fun, is the old guys mixing Viagra with Nitro and the guys that fall in love with a Bar girl, realize she is a slut and then off themselves, sad but true. I used to read about suicide after suicide…

And then there are all the guys that get splattered while riding there rented motorcycles. Not to slam this activity as renting a dual purpose motor bike and whipping threw the mountains of Northern Thailand is a breath taking experience…but I did almost fill my drawers more then once even got in one head on collision…I was okay but the girl that was on the back got scraped up pretty bad…

On this last trip, I rented a Honda Jazz; cute little runabout. One night near Sakorn Nakhon, in the Northeast area, I was returning from a visit at a famous Wat, on a clear night, on a clear road. Or so I thought. Out of the black night coming straight for my headlights was this drunk biker, no light, weaving, trying to control his Moped. I was just able to brake and steer around him. I'm sure if he had any wits about him, he must have seen his whole life go before his eyes. Fortunately, my reflexes saved his life, but it could easily have been a tragic circumstance for him and worse for his wife, and probably ten kids. Of course, being a Farang, I probably would have come out on the losing side in the eyes of the Law.

I saw plenty of foreign men with rented Thai girlfriends, something like $25 a day plus expenses and you take them traveling with you.

Of course, they were probably gleamed from the girly bars in Pat Pong (Bangkok), which is a good place to look I think. Stay away from any bars/clubs that are upstairs though, they are the ones that say "no cover" when you go in, then when you try to leave there is a burly doorman who charges you to leave. I met someone who was thrown down the stairs because she and her bf didn't have/wouldn't give the cash they wanted.

However the small signs listing the different shows that the touts use to get you in are priceless! I bought one for 100 baht just to bring back to show you guys. I haven't posted it yet cuz my scanner isn't hooked up, but I can just type it out for you. I would really like to know if anyone has been there and seen these shows.
