SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The next movie in the Star Wars series will be called Revenge of the Sith, the company that makes the films said Saturday.

Lucasfilm said the movie, the sixth in the series, will explain how villain Darth Vader turned from good to bad.

The first three films show the fight to overthrow Vader, lead unknowingly by his son Luke Skywalker. The second set of three, including Revenge of the Sith, trace Vader's early life, from brilliant slave boy to evil conqueror of the universe.

The Sith is a sect that corrupts the young Vader, known then as Anakin Skywalker.

Lucasfilm fan-relations chief Steve Sansweet revealed the title at Comic-Con International, an annual meeting of science fiction fans.

Filmmaker George Lucas is the brains behind the series.

The movie is set for release next May.

what?
You mean that wasn't revealed in the last movie? What was it about then?
Obviously I never saw it. Somehow that series ran out of steam for me a long time ago.
I think it was because of that annoying golden robot, the other one R2D2 and then the final nail in the coffin JarJarBinx. (and Luke Skywalker's poor acting - can't remember the actor's name he was so good! - Remember "R2....R2..." as his fighter got strafed? such a good actor!)
I can see why you need a protagonist and an antagonist in a movie, but why is it so necessary to have the annoyagonist?

I hated episode 1 so much that I never saw the second one. I suppose I'll have to go back and see it if #3 is any good (which is doubtful?).

yeah, lucas really shot his wad in the first trilogy and there really wasn't anything left of interest ... who cares how they got to be and blahblahblah ... and the cutesy characters made me puke.

and jarjarbinks was just a bad roger rabbit ripoff ...

let the series die luke ...

Doesn't matter how aggravating those damn androids get....it's worth putting up with them to see Princess Leah in the gold bikini.

For those that haven't seen Episode 2 I highly recommend it over both the miserably lame Episode 1 and Revenge of the Stupid Ewoks. Jar Jar is sadly still in it a bit (much less so fortunately) but all esle is pretty good though certainly not better than the first 2. Plus you get to see Yoda kick some ass with a light sabre...

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are a bit long in the tooth for those roles now. Unless it's a 20 years later type of story.

Episode 7, 8, and 9... when discussed by Lucas in an article about 10 years ago... would take place when Luke Skywalker was an old man.

The Ewoks are turned to the dark side of the Force and try to re-establish the evil galactic empire with the undead rotting corpse of Jar Jar Binks as Emperor. Result is 3 movies of cute cuddly critters being horribly mutilated by light sabres or turned into swiss cheese by laser blasters.
