Shaw has been bullet proof. I'm on their extreme plan.
I was on Telus a few years back. It sucks.
Might try Novus FibrNet http://www.novusnow.ca/services/internet.php
Their speeds range from 25Mps-300Mps from $38-upto $113. The big issue is if their available in your area.

I remember having shaw yrs ago and they certainly went up in pricing. I think i was paying 40-45 or something like that.
80 is for a premium, higher bitrate service. I think my regular service is 45 or so. I have it bundled with phone and cable, so not even sure how much I'm paying. My total bill is 127 and I get a lot of extra channels.
I'd probably like faster internet but since I surf on my phone so much these days I don't see the point for the few times I sit at my desk on my laptop. It's not super slow though. I'm satisfied with Shaw.

If in an area serviced by Novus, then Novus hands down. If not then try ABT (Anybody But Telus)

Alin what were the probs with the Shaw system? I was having HD pixelization and the audio wasn't matching up with the people speaking. One service rep told me to disconnect the PVR/Set Top Box every once is a while so it could reset itself. Strange, but it seemed to work better when I did the hard reset.
My Shaw Internet has been very reliable. I can remember only I one day in the past year when I had service issues and it was resolved pretty quickly.
Seems things change every 2 - 3 years or so. Last time people were beating on Telus for crap service/support and now the shoe is on the other foot with Shaw. I am not going back to Telus, ever.
I just did a Speedtest.net and my Shaw download was 25 MB/S and upload was 0.5 MB/S with a 19 ms ping.

As an early adpoter to HDTV with shaw I can say that after going thru 6 boxes and multiple tech support guys on site. They could never fix the audio lag/video pixelation issues. Imagine having people over to show off fancy new gear only to have to put up with that bs. Now.... I just torrent.
