Coquitlam man charged with murder

A Coquitlam man has been charged in connection with New Westminster's first homicide of 2007.
George Ammon Kong hadn't shown up for work or been heard from in three days when someone called New Westminster police on Jan. 23 to check on him. Officers arriving at his highrise apartment at 838 Agnes St. found Kong dead.
Because it looked suspicious, the integrated homicide investigation team was called in. An autopsy later confirmed that Kong had been killed.
A police investigation that lasted 11 days ended with the arrest Saturday of Kenneth Jensen, a 23-year-old Coquitlam resident, on a charge of second-degree murder. Jensen appeared in court in New Westminster on Monday and he's scheduled to be back before a judge on Feb. 12.
"The investigation has determined that this was not a random act as the victim and suspect were acquaintances," said Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesperson for the homicide investigation team, in a press release.
Police say that Kong and Jensen had connected through an Internet chat room. They had apparently made arrangements to meet for the first time, which is allegedly when Kong was killed.
"This investigation moved along at a fast pace and was not without assistance from the corporate community," Carr said.

Specifying their own gender, visitors to the site can search for men or women within a particular age range and geographical limit.
