Well,
I have decided this month to be a nice guy
I know strange for someone like me.
Every time I got through a Drive-thru line,
weather it be for coffee/ burgers/ or the what not,
I'm paying for the car behind me... doesn't matter what the bill is
and I'm not sticking around for a thank you

Just wondering, what are some of the nicer things you've done latley

Gave my empty bottles to a street person

I had cleaned up my bottles on the week-end and had them in my trunk to drop off at a bottle depot. I came across a guy pushing a cart half full of bottles and cans so I pulled over and gave him mine to top it off.

I felt pretty good after that.

Before I moved to this God Forsaken place...I lived on Vancouver Island. I was rushing to the ferry one day and got in the wrong line. These couple saw that I would have to go all the way out and get in line so they let me cut in front of them. I got to the toll booth and paid for them to cross. They left me nice thank you note on my windshield after. Makes ya feel good......need more of it in this world.

If you really want to be nice, how about you go see a sp before me and pay for my booking! I prefer 4hrs sessions btw with all the extras.

I went well over my time with an SP at a MP and after tipping her I gave an extra $20 and asked her to give it to her next waiting appointment. I dont know if he got it, but she gave me a huge hug and said that was so cool and sweet. If she pocketed it- hey its only $20 and she can live with not passing on the nice gesture. Other than that I let a guy go in front of me at Best Buy the other day

It feels good to do something Nice!!!

I had a customer yesterday (I do Income Taxes) and he had a real bad year including Wife cheated and leaving with the kids. Anyways, I did his taxes for free. I know as he left, he very much appreciated what I did for him. It made me feel good, which was my reward.

I've done that quite a few times. I'd be on my way to a bottle depot and I end up giving them to a homeless person with a cart. It's small change for me anyway. Of course he'd likely spend it at a liquor store instead of a meal but whatever.

i was speed walking to school yesterday and there was scaffolding blocking the sidewalk. An elderly woman coming the opposite way had a walker and could no way squeeze in like i did so i rushed forward helped her around cars and traffic to the other side and was late for an english lit lecture on Chaucer. at least it put a smile on my face from the hectic morning

Yes but we don't complain about being hungry... I'm more than willing to help someone out with a meal...not get drunk.

My cousin had this little episode happen at a downtown coffee shop. There was a down on his luck individual going table to table asking everyone for spare change, saying that he was hungry and wanted to buy something to eat. My cousin out of his generous nature actually went and bought the man a full meal and handed it to him with a smile. The guy turned around, and dumped it all in the garbage before walking out. Lesson learned. I'll help out at the Mustard Seed.

Sorry to rant, but I just don't think giving anyone money is worth it anymore.

I was in the store yesterday and bought a big bag of halloween treats and then went around the office and gave everyone in the office and surrounding area treats.

My other random act of kindness for the month..
Every day after work I take a dozen burgers and drive around.
You know the bums that sit there with a sign.. yeah we all hate em.
well insted of giving money. I give em a burger. I sometimes head downtown too.. but it can get a little rough in the alley ways. Most people are thankful for the food.
so on a side note, don't give em money, give em food

Kudos to you DQ guy, and to everyone else participating.

This really got me thinking about what I could be doing to help make the world a better place. I've decided to put aside $20 from each session I do and donate those funds to a different charity at the end of each month.

You guys are very inspiring!

i live downtown and when i first moved here i gave out wayyy too much money to the many bums around.. i started buying food and giving it to them. one guy threw his food out too. it was sad. an arabic restaurant downtown i know of does cook food for bums who comes in n asks for money and they are grateful for it.
I once didnt have money but a bum asked for money so i said i'd buy him lunch instead. we walked to mcdonalds in city centre and i asked him why he's homeless and he said he just got out of jail. I asked him what he did to get in there and he proceeded to tell me he was innocent but if i really wanted to know, he got charged with contracting HIV or AIDS (I forget) to someone else knowingly. I was like ...ohhh............

At least he/she is out doing something. I have done the same and it is amazing what the response is. There are a lot of good people who live 'on the street' for their own reasons.

About a week ago i saw to two guy's from the military still wearing there uniforms. Aparently they just got back from Afgan. I spoke to them as i saw an ensignia on their shoulder i hadn't seen before. (engineers)

On my way out i paid for their lunch without telling them, just asked the waitress to tell them "thanks for protecting our country and doing the stuff the rest of us don't want to". Walked out, and never looked back.

Its so easy to do the simplest of things for someone else.
If everyone could do just one little thing, like letting in that person on the road,
to giving to someone who is down on their luck. the world might end up
a little better in the end.
heck today I gave a lady my shopping cart at safeway.. not a big deal right?
but it made her smile if even for a minute

Just shared a cab into town from the Vancouver airport
Turns out the guy is visiting his new girlfriend and he was just in Van with her last weekend!
I'm such a sucker for romance!
Fare was on me and we saved the environment an extra cab ride
It's good to be home again

They were RCE , Royal Canadian Engineers or RCEME , Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers. If their badges had a horse and a lighting bolt, they were RCEME. kudo to you for your kindness. I know they will tell of it many times in the mess hall. Arte Et Marte

I think people do remember those moments, I know I do as I've been on the recipient side also. It's a nice reminder to know that our society hasn't all went to hell and there are people out there that still care.

With the homeless people, I used to give money to homeless people and then like everyone else here, have had a bad experience and wrote them off till I read a homeless research paper. Basically, it said that 50% of the "homeless" aren't really homeless...they just don't want to work etc. However, there is 15% group that are "permanent" homeless who have mental conditions like schizo, paranoia etc and will never be able to adapt to everyday life. I feel terrible for these people as they don't have a choice. So I donate time and money now to those homeless organizations.

As much as we all think we are secure, we're all a few paychecks away especially if the economy tanks like it has in the US.
