And where do we go from here?

1. Tim Thomas. The man is hot, no doubt about it.

2. Injuries. Kesler, Raymond, Hamhuis, Rome's suspension, even having Samuelsson out has an impact. Of course there are a lot of undisclosed injuries among the active players as well. Vancouver is more banged up than Boston even if they lost Horton.

3. Luongo's play on the road.

4. Luongo's comment about being Thomas's miscue on the winning goal for Game 5.

This hurts worse than Game 7 in the 1994 final. We are the favorites and being up 2-0 in the series only to lose it in 7. And to be a non-factor in all our losses.

The '94 team will always be the toughest loss to me. You had a great team (Linden, Bure, Adams, Kirk Mclean and on and on, plus Pat Quinn behind the bench) who played with grit and wanted to win.

I don't feel any of the affection for this team that I do for them.

I don't hell know why Burrows, Henrik, and others didn't shoot the fucking puck to the net? This is a fuck up team! Canucks sell penalties, Bruins don't! That's why officials give Bruins lots of leeways!
In short, Canucks got owned by a better team!

Gotta score goals people to win hockey games and Tim Thomas was the reason why the Nucks lost. Plain and simple. Bottom line is that Boston wanted it alot more than the canucks did.
Game 7 was do or die for both teams and the best team won and no excuses. Nucks were not the better team.

One thing good to come out of this is that the Nucks now know what they need that they didnt have in the final 2011 playoffs series.
Too start.....an enforcer or two is needed......despartely!
With the style of the Canucks' playing, I doubt it! To them, it's just a game!

no the Rom suspension did not help! Our defense was tattered and lost... plus the officiating through the series was pretty shitty. Not even a penalty for what happened to Raymond, but Rome got 4 games. If it's so based on injury that makes no sense!

Conspiracy? ;p
Sorry but the hit Rome dished out wasn't even close to the hit that hurt Raymond. (there is a big difference between the injury sustained and the intent to injure)

In the end the Sedin's didn't show up (again) Sure they score alot in the regular season but when it counts they dissappear.

Tim Thomas is a good goalie. And just goes to show it doesnt cost $10/M a year to win a cup. But the Canucks keep doing the same routine over and over. Tim Thomas is beatable. Evidence in the Tampa series, there were games he was letting in 5 and more goals. Was he hot? I'm not convinced. But if going high blocker isn't going in, your best bet is to try something different. Was Luongo a let down? Yes and no. Kudos to the Bruins for scouting him properly and exposing his weeknesses.

It's not so much that we lost tonight. But to me, there is no comparison to the 94 team. This team lacked character and grit. To me, 4-0 on home ice in a game 7 you may as well have forfeited the game. If it was a 4-3 or 2-1 nail biter fight to the bitter end game, I think people while upset, would have walked away with a sense of pride. Teams fight 82 games in a regular season for the chance of having home ice advantage in a critical game 7 in the finals. To shit the bed like that is unacceptable. Period. I don't need to hear about pain and injuries. Tell that to Linden in 1994 who scored 2 goals singlehandedly to rally his team close to championship. There was none of that tonight. Some minor sustained offensive zone pressure in the first 10 minutes, and what a shocker, the Sedins cycle play does nothing.

From Goalie to the forwards Boston was better in most aspects of the game.

Thomas - better than Lou and consistent in our series.

D Men - Better, mainly because they had a core of healthy ones. Our forwards were unable to penetrate their defensive triangle and when they did they couldn't capitalize. Also they wouldn't get their noses bloodied by tangling with Boston's D men. That video of Sedin getting speed punched really bothers me. WTF is the matter with him and why didn't he hit back?

Forwards - goes to show you that the grinders are the ones who come out on top in a long season and long playoff run.

Officiating. I really dislike the two sets of rules we have in the NHL now. A player just has to fart on the ice now during regular season and gets a 2 minute interference penalty. During the playoffs it is now OK to cross check someone in the face and not get a penalty. Either play smashmouth all year long or play by the regular rules all year long. This adage about "letting them play" has gone way too far IMHO. I make the same complaint every year so I guess I am one of the few that have a problem with no rules in playoffs. Makes you wonder why we even have skill players from Europe play here. They clearly are not cut out for a long playoff run.

Well said...

At the end of the day, after watching everything that unfolded last night after the game....I find myself not really caring.
I gotta agree. After watching the lunatics escape from the asylum last night I just don't give a shit now. It was a wonderful season, great long playoff run and it is tainted by a few who deserve some jail time.

This team lacked character and grit.
The Canucks biggest deficiency in this series was mental toughness; there's no shortage of skill, but they were simply unable to defeat Boston whenever trailing in a game. It seemed that whenever Boston scored first, the Canucks shut down, mentally. Thomas didn't let his losses in Games 1 and 2 get to him [Boston lost both BECAUSE of him], but Luongo didn't seem to have that same confidence.

On another note, Boston's defence was fantastic once they scored that early goal - there wasn't a thing they could have done better yesterday, and they were brutally efficient at shutting down the Canucks.

Boston loses a 1-0 game with the only goal scored with less than 20 seconds left on the clock and and the other in OT and only Thomas is to blame????????????????????????????

i'm a canucks fan, but the better team won the stanley cup - pure and simple. nothing mysterious about it

the potentially good news is that now the players have tasted it. they know what to expect. they now know what a post-season really is, and they know what its like to lose the cup. kinda like soldiers getting 'blooded' for the first time. if they don't get greedy with contract demands and the team can be held together, they could put in a cup-winning year next post-season
