Its not a load of shit. The President doesn't watch CNN and based what he sees he then decides to act. He has to follow protocol. Theres all kinds of rules and regulations that those in goverment have to be abide by before they can act during a crisis. As stupid as some them are when citizens of a city are dieing.

What bullshit!
All the pres has to do is to declare a state of emergency, and then hop to it.

In a nice wet pussy!
Photo-ops come before anything else these days!

Like all politicians, Nagin is setting his sights on higher ground. Can you spell G-O-V-E-R-N-O-R?

Bushie was just being himself, with one eye on the media, and one finger on his prostate...

Remember the look on his face when he was told about the Twin Towers?

"MR. PRESIDENT, AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK."

One minute later:

Two minutes later:

Three minutes later:

Four minutes later:

Five minutes later:

Eventually he became bored, and left for Air Force One so he could have a nap...

I do not think Ray Nagin could be president. If ranting about how the president isn't doing a good enough job to help New Orleans qualifies him then half the members of PERB would also be qualified to be President of the USA.

The far left has reached a point in the Bush presidency that the far right reached at about the same point in the Clinton presidency.

It did not matter what happened or how unpolitical a situation; the first words out of the extremists’ mouths are it is Clinton or Bush’s fault.

The levies of N.O. were built to withstand a cat 3 hurricane. They were built years ago.

So let’s fast forward a few years….

There is a major earthquake in the pacific and it is learned a Tsunami is heading towards Seattle. You have one days warning and Seattle will be eliminated.

Bush immediately sends in the military they take control of the entire city. All residence are bussed, trucked or flown inland many miles. The city council is ignored. The governor of Washington State (what’s her name is ignored) There is no time for their permission or approval, the Federal government declares a national emergency.

No one is allowed into the city. Families are separated because they could not get back into Seattle to reunite. There is no opportunity to secure any personal belongings.

The sick and infirmed are place in alternate shelters. The hard core prisoners are flown to Club Gitmo. The medium and low risk prisoners are place in tents borrowed from Sheriff Joe.

A few looters are shot and killed by the US military, but the whole town is evacuated in time.

Oh, just a minute the Tsunami was over estimated. It was not as server as predicted and a small wave hit the shores.

The libs go wild. How dare Bush trample on civil rights. How dare Bush ignore the constitution and use the military. Let’s impeach Bush for abuse of power. He should have waited until the mayor and the governor had requested his assistance.

We all knew Bush was a Nazi and was looking for an opportunity to invade the State of Washington, this was his excuse and he lied about the severity of the situation. Remember WMD? He lied again.

The constant drum beat of blame Bush so much reminds me of the constant drum beat from Gingrich to blame Clinton. Your credibility is shot and this time you may even have some good points. Bush does need to carry some blame here. But your objectivity is on par with Newt

What would you Seattle libs want Bush to do if Seattle was in danger from a Tsunami?

I gotta say these are some very good points...some blame should be on Bush for not declaring a state of emergency 2 days before the hurricane hit, but that's about it. The blame game has indeed become a knee jerk reaction in US politics, and this is counterproductive to everything regardless if liberals or conservatives lapse into this state of being.

Also, if they used Haliburton or teh Army's Corp of Engineers to build the levies up to withstand a cat 5 vs cat 3 hurricane, I think a lot of people would have said, "Oh what a waste...fix the potholes in my alley instead!" and on and on..

I'm undecided if Nagin is screaming purely because of his (understandable) frustration and concern or if this is a case where, as Shakespeare wrote, "...the lady doth protest too much"

Excellent job, luckydog!
You set up a strawman, and bested him in ferocious hand to hand combat.

Who says its a state of emergancy? CNN

I'm just saying before he makes that call he has to follow protocol.

Hopefully after these turn of events things will be different..ie faster.

uh back to the oringinal topic, but first very well put LD and Mike Hawk. But the reson we have such a disaster with the human toll in N.O. is because the city government did not do their job no planning and training for the worst case scenerio. and with all good black politicians when they show their complete and total incompetence they play the race card, blame whitey so everyone will take their eye off the ball.

Because the left is being Monday morning q'backs.

I was setting up for the question you chose to ignore. If Bush had acted the way the left is describing, then he would have been criticized again. I think he is a bright guy and knows he can't win the left over. So just ignore them. It is not like he will run for office again.

So back to my question. If Seattle was under threat of the killer Tsunami with an 80% chance of hitting, what would you want him to do? Force the evacuation of the city? That is what would have saved lives in N.O.

True. But Bush can win over the moderates and the fence sitters. Or he can completely lose them. Politics isn't won on the left or the right, but in the middle.

It is not like he will run for office again.
No, but the Republican party will, possibly with the face of his own brother if you choose to believe some of the speculation (although if Bush's popularity doesn't rise, this will be moot).

Voters do have a history of punishing the party if not the candidate.

and with all good black politicians when they show their complete and total incompetence they play the race card, blame whitey so everyone will take their eye off the ball.
What an insightful generalization. Nothing completely and utterly racist there.

Dexi- I am not sure why you edited the quotes to eliminate the names of those you are quoting.

The first two are mine and I stand by them

The last one is not mine.....

Are you a reporter for the New York Times???

He was quoting you --- therefore he was calling you a racist. I don't know for sure if you intended it (due to your inadequate written communication skills) but the statement as written by you is utterly racist. Any politician in the US who uttered it would have to resign.

It was not a knee-jerk response. Your statement as quoted implies that all black politicians are incompetent, and I suspect that actually is what you meant. If that is true, then you are a racist. Period.

If that is not what you meant, please clarify.

hank i knew what point he was trying to make. but one that lives in the bluest of blue counties in america expect nothing less from a liberal. You dont live in the states so you dont understand the vermin that is the white liberal and black politicians. they are the first ones to use race for political gains, they are the ones that are keeping the large black minority down on the plantations ,dependent on govermental crumbs so they will continue voting democratic. the liberal politicians, black and white, biggest fear is that the majority of the blacks will figure out the scam and start looking elsewhere to place their votes. remember gw went from 8% to 11% from one election to another. if you were to get a mccain or rudy to win the republican nomination in 08 the gains might be larger. who knows.

but kind of off topic ive read in the newspapers where this new york city councilman was speaking to a mostly black audienece and led off his speech by saying that there are mornings that he the black council man gets out of bad that he would like to bitch slap a white boy.
