I`ve only got 10 spots for the poll, and I`ve only been a member since February 2005, so I don`t know of all the past legends. I have 24 hours to add to the poll. Let me know your recommendations.

So far, I have (in no particular order):

1. Hatrick
2. Hitrack
3. Hamster
4. Hifisex (what`s with all the H starting names?)
5. Spaceghost
6. Hipster Dufus
7. ?
8. ?
9. ?
10. ?

I know the first 3 are no brainers to be on the poll, but I really don`t know much about Hifisex except he has the most posts and Spaceghost I heard some funny things about... but never really read his posts.

Takes 3 consecutive posts against to veto somebody off the list (I figure 3 strikes you`re out). Remember, I only have until 3 am tommorow to change the poll, so write your suggestions in.

1. Im trying to figure out why Spaceghost should be on it.

2. Much as I personally dislike the guy I would add another H to your collection. Hipster Doofus. He basically put Victoria on the pooning map.

1. Totally agree Blowhard. Not sure he ever contributed anything of value. Early pioneers like Photo, 2cums, yourself etc. have actually provided countless reviews and valuable information (though many of those reviews are no longer available it appears).

2. We share ever aspect of perspective on this one!

I would also say that Hatrick sure is interesting but couldnt say hes reached legendary status yet...maybe in a couple of years.

Also no offence to Hifi but...I dont think Ive ever seen a review, he just posts a lot.

Allister should be on the list though probably a lot of current posters wouldnt remember him...great reviews always finished with an "Allister" special.

and of course love him or hate him....the guy who singlehandedly brought down the Vancouver Big Doggie Board...[resource] or Delecto. Hes a legend as it was probably because of him most posters switched over to PERB to get away from his rants.

Delecto (Mmmmmmmm......) was actually on Perb for about 72 hours once!

HFS had some reviews but I cannot find them now. If you went by threads started with the most posts/reads then HFS needs to be on the list - if it is stat thing - as he seemed to pick topics that brought people out in the lounge. Actually, so did Vancouverman in one of his many episodes here though it is never clear which Vancouver man will or will not show up....guess that depends on the home life.

Allister was OK but a Hamsterite in training and not worthy of top 10 status.

Kev is someone not often mentioned. As one of the first to both post and moderate at the same time, he demonstrated that it was vaguely possible to do both while the dearly departed chuckie showed that, for some, it was not only impossible but the position of moderator was wholly corruptable.


Perhaps this poll should have a 2003 and earlier component and a 2004 and later as the players are somewhat different - certainly in terms of contributed value. It is also interesting that with all the various vigorous pruning campaigns, how some great reviews and threads have vanished. I do not keep stats so cannot say for certain but know that, personally, I had just under 1800 posts when I was, ahem, removed by a certain former moderator for doing things that were later proven to be done by himself....oh, the irony. In those 1300 or so former posts were reviews but also a lot of interaction with GREAT reviews and posts from the likes of 2cums, Hamster, Photo and others...information that is likely now irrelevant (SPs never stick around more than a year and when retired go to far flung places never to return so older warnings not needed ).

The point is that by being such an asshole on one board he greatly contributed to the success of this one..Fred Zed should be indebted to him.

As for Allister..yeah ok he was never really on this board anyway.

Good point re. [r] as that is reason a bunch of us left TBD Vancouver in first place and it seems to have essentially cratered since.

He POSTED more pictures than MOST. He brought ADDED value.

And I think he did a lot of POONING for PHOTOGRAPHY trades which ups the respect he gets from me.

Plus he was a little nasty which brought some FLAVA to the board.

Hammy was strong too.

Don't forget Trawler in Edmonton. Sheer volume and $$$ spent on the hooby he has to be up there.

He posts no BS and has paid for numerous DUOS.

Maurycy Beniowski (Maury to you) consistently posts the best (most interesting and intelligent) notes.
Georgebushmoron is not as consistent, but his best stuff is terrific.
We have quite a few good ones here that aren't on the poll menu.

Exactly what does "biggest legend" mean?
Does it mean a reputation that exceeds actual contribution? That's kind of the implication of the phrase.

OMG, I completely forgot that polls cannot be edited, only the message. Maybe paid members can edit polls? Anyways, before I make another one (or maybe the mods can help me edit the poll?), here is the tentative new list:

1. Hatrick (even though some say he's not yet worthy, he often gets mentioned with Hitrack as a legend, so we'll give him special legend to be status)

2. No super short term members (no Delecto)
3. Legends must have a lingering and long term affect on the current PERB community in some way.
4. Maybe we should limit it to Jan. 2004 and on?

I removed spaceghost and I have 2-3 spots left. We don't necessarily have to fill those spots. We can go to the polls with just the 8. For now, I'm going to leave hifisex in. He didn't get the 3 consecutive vetos needed to kick him out, whereas it was more or less agreed spaceghost was an asshole.

Haha ... thanks, but I've now semi retired (possibly retired?) from pooning so there is no way I qualify as a legend. Most of my posts are useless drivel or a wandering diatribe posted while I sit on my pompous ass all day!

What about Mario and his never ending tales of all of his visits to the same SP??

But in the end, and even though I never do the SWs, Hitrack is THE LEGEND.

His posts transport the reader into a world of magic, filled with Java stops, flashlight-aided inspections and all the ensuing hilarity that could only come from a Hitrack review.

I'd have Hamster as a (very distant) second.

Actually it's HATrick that does the flashlight thing. Hitrack does the coffee thing. I was going to start a "tape measure and scale" thing (if the girl doesn't meet my measurement and weight specs, she gets booted out of the car), but that went by the wayside. I was thinking that could be my gimmick. Every pooner should have a gimmick.

I'm going to 2nd blowhard. He is the pioneer of the never ending smiley. There has never been anybody like Blowhard. His unique angle of communicating with smileys is worthy of legend consideration. Ok so blowhard is in. I would have to say Mustangjoe is out. When I think hornydude or MJ, I think shit disturber. Entertaining, but not somebody I would consider a "legend."

I liked Dufferin, Freddylikesit and L2L, but the one guy that should definitely make the list is JackFrost. Keep in mind that most of his reviews were deleted when he left PERB for a while.

2 criteria need to be met for legend status 1.longevity 2. reviews by that criteria most of the old timers would be good nominees(sp) howie meeker always enjoed his post vancouverman, dufferin, blowhard(love his animation) HD, hamster. there all good for legend status. But someone on the board for less then a year doesnt have the body of work so to speak.
