I am trying to find a manufacturer of good quality a/v that has the following option.

Network connection from pc. wireless or wired.

reason for this, is that I would like to be able to feed mp3 files directly to the home amp receiver, or if I wish, feed divx or any other video media format as the computer would be doing the decoding not the amp itself.

Of course, the amp will do the normal amp stuffs etc.

I have tried simple divx players etc.. but the problem is always the same. You need to burn the media to cdrw, or dvdr/rw etc.... why not just feed it across the network? wirelss G should be able to handle the bandwith, or hell 100mb cable will be an overkill.

Saves the time of burning the media + you can have your entire collection at your fingertips via the amp remote control.

There are some networkable multi media player like one made by dlink. its ok, but theres an issue with it. It tries to decode the video / music files itself and not relying on the pc to do so, causes an issue. Slow video performance and compability issues. anyone heard or seen something like what i am looking for? anyone willing to TOFTM

I think the reason for the lack of response is you are asking for an audiophyle's help with listening to mp3's. Most audiophyles think mp3"s sound like shit, so maybe you should be asking for the assistance of a computer guy.

Exactly... that and you should not be posting for audiophile advice on a hooker review board! There are many excellent audiophile forums out there!

He's right cause no audiophile would listen to mp3's on their home system as the compression is to high. But in any case since you seem to not mind listening to mp3's why not just buy a Ipod and hook it up to your system. They even make a remote for it. Several car companys have Ipod docking stations coming for their new cars too in addition to 3 others right now.

Maybe if you rip your CD's and leave then in raw PCM format with no compression. But MP3 in 320kbps is not bad. Unless you have the most discriminating ear it don't matter. Although I would never use MP3's to demo equipment.

What you need to do is get a little system together you can mix in with your other AV equipment. Plenty of mother boards out there that offer SPDIF out. A low end Sempron Processor will do the job. A video card with DVI out to hook up to your HD TV is easy and cheap to get now-a-days. Stuffing one or two 250 gig drives in there is a piece of cake.

Running wireless or hiding the wirs and buying a couple gigabit NIC card is a joke it's so easy.

O.K.......O.K. I know your thinking "fukk I don't want some hurtin beige box in my living room" Well don't start pullin on yer wire yet.

Thats the computer case on the bottom left. About $400 at NCIX in Burnaby. Sweet price I say for that bad boy.

Her's something a bit cheaper for $200

Video card. ASUS EXTREME AX300SE-X RADEON X300SE PCI-E 128MB 64BIT DDR VGA DVI TV-OUT VIDEO CARD. $75

I use a US robotics wireless transmiter hooked up to my main box with recievers hooked to my seperate house systems, over 10 gigs of tunes and the sound is not bad (100% better than mp3).The nice thing is the selection of playlists you can format are almost endless,,,,,,,,,,,but nothing beats an old LP or mastered cd.
When it comes down to it,the music/video is only going to be as good as your source and system.
Hitrack, curious,,,is that an old SUMO power amp you have?,can't make it out in the pic,,if not ,what is it?
