A coincidence.......I don't think so.

The more Canada looks to countries other than the US for it's economic well being, the better off both countries will be.

Well 'Dog...I gotta ask, how are feeling about your boy after his slow response down south and at these gems...

"I understand the devastation requires more than one day's attention.
"Brownie you're doing a hell of a job"

...and joking about his wild days in New Orleans? I understand, though not necessarily agree with, you thought process in supporting the guy but is this REALLY what you look for in a leader? Are you not the least bit disappointed?

In the link http://www.cnn.com/2005/BUSINESS/09/08/hu.canada.ap/index.html
provided above, there was this interesting sentence:

Vice President Dick Cheney's national energy policy report in 2001 noted the importance of Canada's oil sands to U.S. energy security.

I was saying months ago that my friend Dick was poring over maps of Alberta... but many of you laughed like it was some kind of joke. I was not joking! I saw him do it myself! And he had those Halliburton pins stuck in all over it too!

Hi Luckydog,

I don't quite understand your analysis, why would both Canada and the US be better off if Canada works with countries other than the US for economic well being?
LD's partly right....and you only need to look at the BSE crisis for evidence.

Had Canada not been so traditionally dependent on the U.S. as its prime market for beef, not to mention dependent on the U.S.'s huge processing capacity, the border closing would not have had such a devastating impact. Australia is a good example of a country that utilizes multiple overseas markets - because they have to, yes....they don't have a huge market next door like the U.S. - but also because they recognized the benefits of expansion in that regard.

Ask any farmer - Canada should have increased its share of local, Canadian-owned processing and packing plants years ago. But only now is that issue starting to be addressed. And all through this crisis, farmers have been calling on government and industry leaders to become more aggressive in expanding Canada's foreign markets for beef.

Canada and the U.S. will likely always be huge, huge trading partners. Geographpically, culturally - it's just unavoidable. And we need each other.

your mom says hi.
yeah i gotta say quite a coincidence. funny thing is, is that canada has been doing this stuff un-recognized for years now. whenever the yanks needed our help we were there(with exception of iraq cause that was bullshit) and its always gone without even a mention.

to all you so called canadians that defend every move bush makes and oh so often chant "we need them more then they need us." #1. i'll say grow some balls and have some loyalty to your country and countrymen. #2. i will say.......................... i told ya so. :p

dittman will probibly try to put some conservitive spin on this somehow and still claim that we nothing just cause we didn't follow into iraq.
