Anyone who's ever wanted to e-mail a hard-copy document w/o having to go thru logistical hell to do it will appreciate a new gadget from Planon System Solutions.
The Mississauga Ont.-based provider of scanning hardware & software has launched the Docu-pen, which it claims is the world's smallest, fully portable full-page scanner.
It's about the same size as a large pen, but - - unlike traditional pen scanners, which only read individual lines of text - - this device can scan an entire page of text & graphics in 4 seconds.
It stores up to 100 pages in its 2 megabytes of flash memory, weights just 50 grams & is only 20 centimeters long.
Besides saving space on a desktop in the office or home, the battery-powered DocuPen is a handy solution for mobile professionals or students - - people who need to scan or copy information on the go.
The DocuPen ships w/ScanSoft's Paper-Port OCR software to manage scanned documents & connect to email, graphics & word-processing programs.
Users can make changes to scanned documents w/the included editing tools.
The DocuPen works in both 100-dots-per-inch & 200-d-p-i mode.
The device sells for 199.99$ & is available @electronic stores.
