I gotta agree, as are a couple other Pizzas on the menu.

Until I find a comparison to Rose Bowl Pizza in Edmonton(is it still there? jasper and like 117th or something...), BP is my pizza joint of choice for sit down pizza.

Rose Bowl Pizza is still there. Never been there but outside has been renovated. I do remember one Edmonton SP recommending Rose Bowl....going to have to try it. :)

For a bigger menu I really like Nick's Steak House......great pies with the right amount of high quality toppings and cheese, home made dough and sauce. Yummy :)
I've never had a bad meal at Nick's....there's a reason (other than location) it's so popular with the Stampeders and local sports crowd - the food is awesome.

The fact that they have this fucktard as their spokesman is enough to keep me away.
Actually the fucktard in question is no longer their spokesdork. They now have those new shitty commercials with the family with the big hands, the chick who's such a whore she makes guys crash their cars, etc.

I don't understand why so many people love this place.
Because BP can be found in every small hick town (at least in Alberta) therefore you get these yokels who think that BP is the height of haute cuisine. I only ate at BP because there was fuck-all else to go for lunch at one place I worked at. If I need a pizza fix in Edmonton, it's always Funky Pickle for me.

This is true....every town over 5,000 people has a BP's in Alberta - Olds, Lloydminster, just to name a couple.

If you want the best chain pizza, you should go to Pizza Hut. It is better than Boston Pizza. Despite its name, pizza at Boston Pizza is only 15% of sales.

Panagopolus and Dominoes do not use real cheese - they use processed cheese. I would not eat that crap if my life depended on it. Want proof, read a Panago brochure. They say Mozzarella and Cheddar. If it was cheese it would say Mozzarella cheese and Cheddar cheese.
Pizza hut is pretty tasty for what it is, one of my faves. The pan crust is not replicated elsewhere I've tried.

Dominoes I've only tried twice in my life, it is absolute garbage. Indeed I got that pizza where there is a layer of cheese stuffed between two crust layers, and it was indeed processed cheese (I read the brochure after I got the pizza) and tasted like utter crap! I couldn't believe it! Pizza hut had a similar pizza a while back and I have to say it was probably my favourite pizza ever. Non stop cheesy greasy pizza goodness (greasy pizza = good pizza despite what people like to think).

I would be a bit surprised if panago used fake cheese though. A long time ago I worked there. Things may have changed but I still eat it and it tastes real to me (I can taste processed cheese a mile away). The ingredients were all quality. I think panago tends to get a bad rap just because it is reasonably priced. The pizza is decent but not spectacular.

So where does one go for pizza in a real restaurant? Not a fast-food type joint like Pizza Hut or Flying Wedge.
Somewhere with real tablecloths, where you can order beer as well. Maybe even have the pizza served on one of those round pedestal style serving trays.

Boston Pizza, Pizza Hut and Panagos, their pizzas are over-rated and over priced;) . My favourite pizza locations here in Edmonton are small local establishments who locals frequent a great deal due to great service, home style cooking for any pasta style dish and even the pizzas;) :p :D .

Boston Pizza seems to be hit and miss

 Early this year I went to the BP in Whistler because I had a crave for Lasagna. The meal I got was basically Pasta & Watery Tomato Sauce. I complained and they brought me a new order which was the same and seemed like it was prepared that morning in Toronto. I compained again whereupon the manager told me that it was a new recipe that they were working on(the lady must have sold real estate or used-cars in a previous life). I said thanks but no-thanks whereupon she refunded my entire bill( I had a salad to start and a coffee). I complained to head office the next day and they did send me out a gift certificate for $20.
:) Interesting to note a friend and I went to the BP on the Northshore to use the gift certificate(presented after the meal) and had a really good meal(I had the ribs and my friend had the salmon).

If I want past I'll stick to Antons on Hastings in Burnaby(the Cannelloni is by far the best).:D

Actually, Earls has a really good thin crust pizza.

Maybe it was...
Most places like BP, Olive Garden etc make food in bulk and microwave it as required.
Smaller independently owned local places are almost always better to eat at than big chains. People go to places like BP, BK or McD's because they know what they are going to get.

Anton's is awesome. The lasagna is great. The conchiglioni in creamy tomato is also awesome. There's other good stuff but if you start to order some of the weirder creations they might not be that great. Too bad you practically have to get there before it opens to avoid a lineup! If you've eaten something good there I don't think you could ever say anything at BP is great.

Earls pizza is good but they took away my favourite creation many years ago, can't remember the name of it, the sicilian, calabrese, or 4 meat/sausage pizza or something and replaced it with some more yuppie creations. I hate it when that happens!

I'm not sure if it's a yuppie creation or if it's the "white dude can't cook Chinese food" thing. I just love authentic chinese food, but I'm not a fan of the neo fusion shit that's out there:Rice bowl dishes = Asia meets North American West Coast yuppie fusion crap. It sort of looks like Chinese food, but it does not have that authentic Asian taste but instead it just tastes like pseudo crap Chinese food. An exception is Cactus Club's rice bowl, it's not bad. But a general rule for me is, if the food sounds asian in a non Asian restaurant I just won't order it. If I want Asian food I'll go to an authentic Asian restaurant.
