These idiots made all these cuts and tore up contracts 10 years ago and now we are in deep shit. Crusty Clark was an MLA and cabinet minister thru it all.
She wasn't there for the HST, but is stacking the deck against a fair vote. Campbell in drag.

(Black Press) Despite a chorus of voices calling for an emergency infusion of money to unclog B.C.'s critically congested court system, the provincial government has no such plans.

In fact, more cuts are coming.

The B.C. Provincial Court warned in its extraordinary Justice Delayed report last fall that another 17 judges must be hired just to get back to 2005 levels and stop the growth of the case backlog that increasingly lets criminals walk free because of unacceptable delays.

Instead, February's provincial budget approved more cuts for 2011 – one per cent for the judiciary, eight per cent for court services and six per cent for prosecution services to carve out another $14.5 million – followed by a funding freeze for the following two years until 2014.

Years of attrition have whittled down the number of judges and sheriffs and increasingly complex, longer cases take up more time for prosecutors.

More than 2,100 criminal cases are now at risk of being tossed out of court due to delays that threaten to violate the accused's right to be tried within a reasonable time.

I saw a FB item today which quoted Premier Clark to the effect of "China is right next door to us".

I couldn't help but wonder if she's able to actually see China from her front porch, ... or was it kitchen window?

Wouldn't surprise me.

I can't believe people are taken in by her nice smile. She might be cute, but it doesn't make her any less creepy than Falcon and the rest of the Liberal crooks.

I think this amply demonstrates the role that received mythology plays in politics.

Indeed. By any measure, the economy was not "fucked up" by the ndp's years of power in the 90s. Wages rose, employment rose. The Liberals benefitted from the (temporary) rise in the world economy, and the low interest rates and building boom, in the early part of their current reign. They of course, took the credit for this. What are the current benefits of the Campbell tax cuts during those years?

But, of course, there is no need to back up assertions with facts on any anonymous internet comment site, or indeed in political discourse in general.

The NDP were dumping money into fast ferries... they were robbing bingo charities... and they started a class warfare strategy by trying to hike property taxes to 'soak the rich'. If you're a union member or a teacher... go ahead and vote NDP.
Otherwise.. no thanks.

I do predict, however, that the Liberals will win the next provincial election. Clark has wisely moved on a few inconsequential items like minimum wage, and will successfully rehabilitate their image enough to win another majority, no matter what happens after the ndp leadership contest this weekend.

-- not that a rise in minimum wage is inconsequential for those working at those levels, but as far as the provincial budget goes it certainly is.

If you want to talk wasteful scandals, the full details of BC Rail are still suppressed. And the Liberals have continued a "class welfare strategy" by dumping on the poor. If you are rich and have lots of assets to protect...go ahead and vote Liberal.

(btw -- I voted Liberal in the last election because their local candidate was a great guy with a proven track record in local politics. But i told him I was voting for him and not for his party...)

It certainly wasn't my Olympic party. I was against it from the start. The Olympic organization is probably one of the most corrupt on earth. They swan around the world dictating TO COUNTRIES how things should be done.

Of course, they always come out ahead and the Olympic countries and cities get the hangover of years of debt.

The Liberals have wasted more money on over-runs on every project they've been involved in than the NDP ever did and increased the total debt at a faster rate than NDP to the highest in history.

The Kool Aid drinkers will always vote Liberal and ignore the facts. Because Glen Clark fucked up a few things 15 years ago - it means the NDP can never be elected again. How does that work? Gordon Campbell gets busted for drunk driving, but is forgiven because...why exactly, because most Liberal supporters drink and drive?

So, go vote for a party that has changed nothing but the face of the leader over a party trying to change style and position and philosophy. Anyway - no government should ever be elected more than two terms. Breeds arrogance, corruption, disdain for the public and entitlement.

I pray that you are wrong.

Have you ever met Clark?

Voting for Liberals is bad enough - voting for Clark a real mistake.

sorry cock, i should have been more clear - i certainly never meant 'your' olympic party, it was more of a general thing... maybe 'our' olympic party would have been a better choice of words. i quoted you because you had correctly pointed out the budgetary shortfalls that we are undergoing

i agree 100% with your post

cheers, vancity

I would point out that the BC Liberals are not 'liberals' in the conventional sense.

Gordon Campbell's about as "liberal" as Darrell Stinson and Stockwell Day lol

At least that's what he projects to non BC'ians...

Gordon fell on his sword. He is no longer projecting anything. The new Gordon is cuter and has a much better smile (in public).

BC Liberals are Conservatives without the hateful federal CPC social agenda. This allows them to continue to line the pockets of the rich without the distractions of dealing with the creepy fundamentalist Christians, who have their own marginal party here. That, at least, is an improvement.

This ad has been running for a few weeks now. As "negative" ads go, I actually find this one quite creative and amusing. The only line that I think crosses the line a little is "Can something taste 'mean'?" But I still get a kick out of it.
