Now yoy're into my era(s). Having Johnny Hartman wailing in "My One And Only Love" with John Coltrane providing subdued tenor sax accompaniment has been my third guest in many a tryst. Ditto with the Modern Jazz Quartet ("Autumn In New York"), Billy Eckstein crooning "Tenderly" or Paul Gonsalves literally smoking in a very balladish-tempoed "Over The Rainbow." Oh, the joy of the ballad!!
The big quote would have to be from old Willy Shakespeare:
"If music be the food of love
Play on, play on
Give me excess of it
So I may sicken and so die."
It's amazing, how positively younger guests have reacted to previously unexposed-to music in a tryst environment. Of course, the ever-present red wine and fireplace (in fall/winter) are added enhancements. Ahhhh!! I smack my lips at recollections.
