Dressing a busty girl?

Believe it or not, large breasts can actually be the bane of one's personal style. I spent years working in offices where dress shirts were de rigueur and it's almost impossible to find tops that fit so they manage to look sharp AND don't look like something you bought at Dare to Wear that was labeled "Sexy Secretary." Most of the advice has already been given but here it is anyway.

- Buy a bigger size and either get it tailored OR just zip the sides through a sewing machine if you are able. A primarily cotton shirt with a touch of stretch material is wise, but best if you go with a higher end store so the material doesn't look cheap. To determine the right amount to take in, without serious sewing/tailor skills, turn the shirt inside out, put it on, button up, pin it along the side seam (pins sticking out = wise) and sketch a chalk line where you want to sew, fold in 1/2 ald hold it up to the light to make sure your chalk lines are symmetrical.
- Get them custom made. If you happen to travel to Asia, you can have an obscene amount of excellent clothing made for incredible prices. I had a 4 piece wool-cashmere suit (jacket, bustier, pants, skirt), a 3 piece wool-silk suit (jacket, skirt, shorts), 4 shirts and a Chinese silk dress made for ~$700.
- Make sure you wear the correct bra size. I'm perpetually amazed by the shear number of women who have NO idea how bras are supposed to fit go trotting around in embarrassingly poor fitting bras. Get fitted by a pro at a high-end lingerie shop (or even an old lady department store like Sears) that carry a WIDE range of sizes, not places like la Senza which carry a limited range and will try to stuff you into something they have that only barely fits.
- T-shirt bras are your best friend. What's a T-shirt bra? The types with the thinly moulded cups that are 100% opaque and are low/nil on the lacy details. With lacy bras a cami might be an option but probably not if it's hot. If it's cold, watch out for "head lights." The seams on lace bras can irritate your nipples and make them perpetually hard. With T-shirt bras, given their demure nature, if you pop a button or someone catches a glimpse, they are less attention getting or suggestive. Their opaque moulded cups forgive many nipply indiscretions.

Buy larger sizes and have the waist tailored. I have to have almost everything tailored if I don't want to be either falling out or looking like I'm wearing a potato sack lol
And I used to be a plus size 24! Many ladies have already mentioned the necessity of a well fitted bra: I was astounded to find out, at my heaviest, that I was not a 40DD but rather a 44GG! As I began to drop excess weight, of course, the boobs stayed around for a while. At size 16, I was still a 38DD. Having now lost a total of over 105 pounds, I'm down to a 36C...but I wouldn't trade my current ass for my old boobs! :clap2:
