There’s a guy ranting all day every day at work about covid conspiracies and I want to fucking choke him.
He is linking covid lockdowns with bicycle lanes now.
He says the vax has secret compounds in it that they (whoever they is) can release via 5G.

Now the weird thing is that he is a journeyman electrician, so he isn’t stupid. But he believes absolutely crazy theories and goes ballistic if challenged. And he goes on about this stuff all day long, non stop.

• The undeniable statistic of death and long term illnesses from every country
• The constant barrage of advice from health officials

One man's story isn't going to change anyone's minds. There are people who simply will not believe till either someone they care about or they themselves die of it.

I first started noticing this particular behaviour some time ago as a 'thing'. The chem trail bull shit was a trigger, then it's moved into a whole new level of bat shit crazy.

I work in various science disciplines and understand as best I can the whole issue of IF --> THEN. I am pretty sure my critical thinking pathways still work (despite various chemical enhancements I underwent in the late 60's early 70's but that is another story). I try to educate as opposed to berate those suffering this cognitive impairment but at some point I go with westwoody's solution. Choke the ever loving shit of the fucking asshole.

The too stupid to know they're stupid subset is out there, amongst us, and in the case of the pandemic contributing in a mighty way to keeping this virus going. Their dissonance is so great it won't even allow them to be educated. Tough one for those who just want to get through this bloody thing in one piece.

I can tell you first hand, it's real. I stayed out of the hospital, just barely, thanks to meds from my doctor but it knocked me on my ass for 2 plus weeks. I was infected by a non-symptomatic person, and who knows how many others get it the same way. These morons in the demonstrations, ignoring all common sense because they are selfish immature assholes who think they know better.

There's a dumbing down of society with the expansion of the internet. The crazies can all connect and share the collective stupidity now, it used to be more contained before information exchange became this easy. With Trump and the other wingnuts coming to prominence, the morons feel safer than ever before bashing science, spewing hate and racism, safety and anonyminity in numbers. I am amused when you read about those tracked down and arrested after the Jan 6th thing in DC, half recant and say they have seen the light, but still others double down on the stupidity.

I had a zoom with my old university gang. All but one has taken the vaccine,. The ones that took it are all in Canada and close to the tops in their fields. The one who hasn't taken it, lives in the US, is divorced, is so-so in his profession and has a metal plate in his skill from a motorcycle accident. Still rides down there without a helmet. Kept on babbling on about the dangers of the vaccine..........

I had COVID and was sick for 3 days like a mild flu. Maybe I was lucky. But 8 to 10 thousand people in Canada die of the regular flu every year in Canada for the last 10 years and it only last for 4 months, this COVID has been around for 16 months and has killed 25,000 thousands people, that is like four flu seasons Which would have killed 32,000 thousand people.
So maybe we should wear A mask full time which I don’t mind if it saves lives

All the horrific issues aside, my last vacation trip was Dec 2019 and my last business trip was Feb 2020. After both trips I had a cold-flu like thing, didn't last long but it was definitely something viral related. Then March 2020, the beginning of the "new times" and I have been wearing a mask and staying away from people as best I can (other than my pooning transgressions but don't judge me). Since then, ZERO colds, flu, and for all intents and purposes have been pretty top drawer health wise. I'm with Ame123 on the issue of maybe masks should be part of the general repertoire, at least in crowded indoor spaces.

keep exaggerating the exception instead of the facts

basic facts that haven't changed since last March, 2020

cause people are too stupid to handle the truth

lie to them, keep putting out models that never come true

keep putting policies in place that don't actually make any real difference

road blocks, 3 day hotel, walk across the border then walk away, walk away from the airport, shut businesses that offer the same products or similar ones to those that are allowed to stay open, could go on but who has the time when you need to hide in your basement cause some guy who was 45 died the other day

fear, when you have everyone in constant fear, you'd be amazed at how much easier it is to control them

don't close the borders

don't force those coming in to quarantine for 14 days with supervision, supports, not just on the honour system

don't do the same with those who test positive in the community

don't follow the only country in the world who's crushed covid, has been doing so for over a year, Taiwan

been known worldwide for the whole time

cause it's an Island, yet it's policies don't have anything to do with that, they're just common sense

test, trace, isolate, quarantine
