Does Calgary need an advertisers section ??

I think an Praries one might be the way to go. I mean touring agency's might drop off the board (IN anyone??) Since's it's just MG mostly now and a few occasional indys.
I agree with the majority that Calgary or at least a prairie advertising section should be set up. Also there should only be reviews in the review section. Visitors can advertise in the local advertising section. The review section in Calgary has become inundated with travellers ads to such an extent that on the 10th of Oct/06 only 2 reviews appeared on the first page. The balance (some 13 or so) were ads from visitors coming to town. I am thinking that users look at reviews for reviews. Continually getting ads is annoying when in that section. More regional/local advertising sections may be a win/win for both providers and board users. That way locals can advertise without being pushed off the first page of the section every 20 minutes and reviwers can read reviews without being cluttered with out of town ads.
The Public Has Spoken
Well despite the rantings on another thread by a certain self-appointed PERB policeman stating that the creation of a new Advertisers Forum for Calgary and Edmonton was very low priority (at least in his little world), the Mods and especially Fred Zed have wisely seen otherwise and created one for the Prairies. Cudos to them for listening to our concerns and making this board all that much easier to navigate.
Now when we want to see who is coming to Alberta, all we have to do is go directly to the new Advertisers Forum for quick reference, instead of wading through the main Advertisers Forum which is 90% dominated by West Coast gals, or more importantly finding the ads scattered in the Calgary and Edmonton Review Forums, where they never belonged in the first place. This will also lighten the clutter in those forums and hopefully contain the content to reviews and comments about SPs only.
