I really want to buy tickets to an upcoming event and it seems so complicated Ticketmaster / pre-purchase Blah Blah
can some one please explain how they acquire tickets when they are popular?
Of course I understand that there is a supply and demand situation it just seems like its so hard to get a reliable direct yes or no ticket from a reliable supplier ???

A lot of times they make you buy the chance to buy tickets. e.g. Buy the album, get early bird access. Sometimes it may just be joining the online fan club (which can be free). You'd have to look into what presale options like this your concert of choice has. If it's particularly popular that may be your only chance.

Pre purchase? I think you mean pre-sale which usually is a tier as to who can buy before the general public. Lots of bands take care of their fan club first before all the others like 'Live Nation', American Express front of the line or possibly a local radio or TV station.

All will have a presale password that works on the day and times specified. You can also google for example Paul McCartney presale password. There are sites that sell memberships for presale passwords for a nominal fee.

It's not always a sure thing having a presale password that will allow you to get your tickets. Big ticket sellers have been using Bots to scoop up tickets only to sell them at 10x face value on other sites. Artists are making ticket limits of 4 seats and one person with the credit card attached to the sale can get the tickets purchased.

Good luck getting your seats!

I usually shoot for smaller venue events to avoid too much bullshit with ticketmaster.

I plan to go to the Claypool and Lennon gig at the Commodore in June; General Admission, so hard for ticketmaster to gouge me on the same price everyone else pays.

Ticketmaster is the reason I stopped going to concerts years ago.
Seriously, fuck that company. Who the fuck actually needs these guys? They are an unwanted middle-man that nobody needs or asked for, whose only purpose is to interfere with you getting tickets you could have gotten easily yourself, and then you have to pay them for the interference.

The final straw was finding out that Ticketmaster scalps their own tickets ! As if their bullshit service fees were not enough, they own one or more prominent "secondary sellers" who jack the price up even more. Because one scam is not enough, I guess - they have to layer them.

Why do the authorities even let this mafia-like ticket cartel even stay in business? Ticketmaster / Livenation / etc. should be wiped off the face of the Earth.

I avoid them whenever possible, and used to go a a retail store for almost all the tickets I used to buy, but now that store is gone (RIP Scrape).

Looking for tix to Neil Young/Elvis Costello. Downloaded Ticketmaster app. I'm denied entry without a promo code. I don't have all day to play their game. Robbery

Most big shows the tickets disappear right away then ticketmaster conveniently redirects you to the secondary market where they are alot more. Be prepared to be shocked what Neil Young tix are going for there.
