I was talking recently to a coworker and the conversation turned towards the City Centre Airport.
One thing that we did agree on is that the city should of went ahead with a vote on whether to close it or not. You would think that a city insider would of tipped "Envision Edmonton" off that their petition would be useless and thrown out on such a small technicality.
I believe in the city taking such a position that Mayor Mandel cost himself a number of votes. They could of held the vote (about the airport)....it would of pleased everyone involved, and then whatever the outcome, everyone can go home and know that there was a fair vote put out on the issue.
On another note about the City Centre airport, my coworker was telling me that there are a number of bomb shelters built near the armoury (north of the RCMP building) with tunnels that go to the Royal Alex, etc. That's why that area never got developed. (north of the armoury). Can anyone confirm/deny if such bomb shelters exist?
Curious about feedback on the issue.
Cruiser.
