Hey Vets,

Just wondering - what is the chance of getting HIV from FS with a SP. Condom was used from beginning to the end. I am worried - perhaps I didn't take the condom off "correctly" and some of the fluids got on me?

What is your experience? Anyone have any scientific articles?

J :(

Just curious. Any pooners out there who've been in this hobby for some time and contracted HIV?

Well OK; time for a serious reply:
"Do not "double bag" (use two condoms). Friction between the condoms increases the chance of breakage."
I resent that. HelloKitty is always serious in the Lounge, as serious as a spaceghost or a squirrel. :p
Friction between condoms, just use some lube.

Joeejoee are you trying to out some HIV positive members out there? I can sense all the ladies reaching for their ban black books now. :p

Not to sound like a worrier, but I AM! I think my short-lived PERB career has gone to an end as this is just too much of an adrenaline rush for me. :( I will resort to living vicariously through you guys.

Went for my HIV test lately... Of course, since it hasn't been a full 3 months or so, it is really difficult to say whether a negative test will mean negative. Will definitely go for re-test.

Used condoms properly BOTH times (yes, only 2 times.. quite pathetic :p)... but it still freaked me out.

Since no one decided to take me seriously on PERB :(, I decided to do some internet searches. Apparently condoms are only 80% effective in reducing HIV transmissibility.

Good luck :(

They quote 85% in here:
http://www.niaid.nih.gov/dmid/stds/condomreport.pdf

Quick summary:
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/facts/condoms.htm

A quick search in Pubmed for a cochrane review of condoms amongst sero status discordant individuals yield a figure of 80%.

Hope this is of interest to those interested

joeejoee,

You are just not cut out for this activity. You are still more likely to die in a car accident than dying from AIDs. There are leser afflictions, while embarrasing and a pain, which are way more rare than the the flu which still is the deadliest disease in the world. Life is a risk, and each person choses what risk he/she is willing to accept.

The reason for lack of response is that this subject has become very old on this board. If you are that worried, leave this board, find yourself a virgin bride and condemn yourself to a matrimonial penitentiary for the next 50 years or so.

I wish you luck.
