So the Bruins retired his number yesterday.

Just wondering...do Canuck fans still feel sore about him getting traded for Barry Pederson before he even reached his potential?

It happens ...We got Markus Naslund for A nobody ...

happens all the time ... o yeah dont forget we gave a draft pick to ..who later became sold Defensemen Glen Wesley ....

Look at Calgary they sent Martin St. Louis away on Waivers... at the time Canuck fans thought it was one of their better deals..

That's not as bad as giving away Doug Gilmour and Jamie Macoun to Toronto for a used puck.

Philadelphia Flyers traded Ron Hextall, Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, 1st round selection (Jocelyn Thibault) in 1993, 1st round selection (later traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, later traded to the Washington Capitals - Nolan Baumgartner) in 1994 and cash to the Quebec Nordiques for Eric Lindros.

It would have been great to see Cam Neely in a Canucks uniform in his prime. Even though he played for Boston as a fellow Maple Ridge boy I always enjoyed seeing Cam excell. What really made me sore is was that cheap shot SOB Ulf Samuelsson. I would have loved seeing someone dish out a serious career ending injury on that chicken shit asshole.

Cam has the forth highest goals per game percentage in NHL history, imagine what type of numbers he could have put up if he had of stayed healthy for longer. He definately deserves to have his number retired.

Whooaaaa! Wolvie, you the man.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that you are my hockey stats / history god buddy, who I think writes the NHL almanac each year. That trade is exactly what I meant when I suggested in the Winnipeg NHL thread that the first Colorado Cup belongs in Quebec City.

And us Canuck fans bitter? Nah, if you look at all the ex-Canucks doing well in the league now, you'd figure that we're used to giving away the good guys. Although recent history is improving the overall trend.

No, YOU DA MAN!

Actually, I got that Lindros trade from the TSN website. They have a pretty good database on the current players in the NHL and each of their histories. Nothing on past players though that I can find.

As for Neely, maybe he wouldn't have realized his potential with the Canucks due to the team chemistry and needed to go to another team where he can truly click. LeClair is another example...he played for years in Montreal but didn't really break out until he was in Philly.

The Oilers have had their fair share of youngsters who had to leave to gel elsewhere, such as Miro Satan and Martin Ruchinsky. But there were also some truly bone-headed moves, such as losing Scott Mellanby to Florida in the Expansion Draft.

Yeah, that clicking thing is important.

Kinda like having a romp with an SP. She was great, you were better, but why do it again if your personalities don't really match up? Trade her in (before she trades you in!), on someone who has "The Chemistry".

Ahh, there I go again. Getting pooning mixed up in the hockey talk.

I see that Phoenix allowed a goal the other day. Great, now that their defense and goaltending is cooling off, the Canucks have 'em right where they want 'em. I hope.

One more point. Cam? CAM!!? You reading this? Who's your ATF SP? I mean, it's only your knees that are buggered up, isn't it?

Close bragged on Letterman.

Cam Neely and Linden Byers got into that stupid camping trip scandal with Glenn Close. Linden Byers tried to deny it because it messed up the men's social lives. Glenn Close is no spring chicken.

Well, not sure if Cam Neely would have had the same type of career if he stayed with the 'nucks. The Bruins play in a smaller rink that fit more his style than the larger rink that the 'nucks played in.

Regardless, he's the great one that got a way.
