Well what a week went on holidays 2 weeks ago then get fired the day I get back then get busted the next day. So I am looking for any info on what happens, is it a fine, does it go on your record.
This is the whole story I see her on the corner (Centre and 15th) I pull over and she comes up and opens the door
HER " How much "
ME " What are you offering "
HER " $80 for a lay "
ME " Ok "
HER " Meet me around the corner "
So I pull around the corner and park when a red caravan comes around the corner and blocks me in and flashes the lights. That is the whole story, they had me sign some papers saying I would not enter any of the strolls and I would appear in court in Sept. So if anybody has any input or info it would be appreciated.
Also for anybody that is curious she was a blond about 22-25 between 5' and 5'6" dressed in a skirt and blazer very attractive should have known better because sha had been there for some time.

Yikes

Now that sucks! And to think I have actually stopped there before but never picked anyone up, but I know the girl you're talking about! Not cool at all. And I've seen LE down that way before too. Should have known that $80 for FS was way out to lunch for the girls on that stroll, you'd be lookin more closer to 3 browns for FS down there. Same as 3rd.

Is there no john school in Calgary?
If you are caught picking up SWs in Edmonton, you have a choice of either going to court or attending a john school. If you attend the john school, the charges are dropped and you get no record, but you spend a day listening to cops, former SWs and outreach workers lecture you about the horrors of seeing SPs.

Shit. That sucks. I always make sure that they get in the car and then drive for a bit before any mention of activities.

Cops don't usually want to just ride around.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Isn't that entrapment? I mean, she was the first to mention money for sex, not you. Are you sure that is EXACTLY the way it went down?
Actually, if my memory serves me correctly I don't think there are entrapment laws in Canada, just in the U.S. Gives the police here a lot more room to wiggle when it comes to running stings, and means pooners out for a little SW action need to be very careful!

That is definately NOT entrapment

That is thier job. They are undercover after all. Otherwise what is the point. They are also permitted to lie when asked if they are an cop. I mean seriously, would vice be of any good if they had to be honest about it? Any drug dealer would just say "Oh, you wouldn't happen to be affiliated with the police would you" and they would reply "Darn, you got me. Another sting gone down the drain"

Entrapment only comes into play when an officer uses extreme measures to get you to do something you wouldn't generally do. You were in a stroll area. She asked/offered just as any SW in the area would have. If you said yes to the officer, you would have likely said yes to a SW. She didn't offer anything not generally offered in the area, nor did she use any extreme means to trick you into doing something you wouldn't otherwise do. Completely legal.

If you know the street scene even a little bit you would know that no walker on the two main "respectable" strips would ever offer FS for 4 greens, no way, never happens! Alarms should be going off if this ever happens! The walkers almost all start at 1 brown for basic HJ and it moves up from there, so please fellow perberts, beware any of these ladies! They can't touch you if you don't agree to anything and just drive off. And anyways, talking logistics to them on the street is not good anyways, pick them up, know what you want, have the money ahead of time and drive and then talk. The street scene is a dangerous game, play wisely. Besides which, I dodn't think LE could do anything until money was physically exchanged, not talked about.... seems like they are stretching the rules a lot to make legit busts! Very shadey of Calgary's already shadey LE.

i hear those sirens now

 taken from the cc:
210. (1) Every one who keeps a common bawdy-house is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years.
(2) Every one who

(a) is an inmate of a common bawdy-house,

(b) is found, without lawful excuse, in a common bawdy-house, or

(c) as owner, landlord, lessor, tenant, occupier, agent or otherwise having charge or control of any place, knowingly permits the place or any part thereof to be let or used for the purposes of a common bawdy-house,

is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

Its not a matter of tip toeing around anything to avoid a charge. If you're found in an MP during a bust and if LE and the crown can show you had knowledge it was a common bawdy house the you can be charged. That said I've never heard of a situation where this has happened unless the police were looking on a way to lean on someone to get them to cough up more information and evidence on the people running the operation.

HFS[/QUOTE]
an if I am the owner..."one running the operation".....how is it that so many places are operating with the knowledge of what actually goes on there?...ie the city hall people do alot of talking with quotation actions while stating bylaws knowing full well what goes on and off the record say no one here really cares what is going on as long as taxes and fees to them....my RCMP friends says that they turn a blind eye to MP's ad Escort services because it's off the street then you here of guys running an MP in Calgary getting busted because he kept immpeccible records...why who was on his books?...so what is all of your opinion am I at risk as the one "running the operation"? and how can they prove I know what is going on?...contracts are signed that they are not to enter into any solicitation..blah blah blah.....I realize that contract are only as good as the writer but do they not stand for anything?

My 2 cents worth

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but I wouldnt worry about it too much. ( unless you happen to be married!) I got tagged in pretty much the same manner in Edmonton. I dont know if the fine has been increased in the past ten years, but I ended up paying a 400 dollar fine.( plus the criminal record!) I believe that the government will give you the choice of attending john school and skipping the record, but if memory serves me right, I read somewhere that the john school still gets the 400 dollar "donation".
In my opinion, if a full day of listening to the cops yap about the victims of prostitution is going to cost 400 bucks, I'd just take the record and pay the fine and go drink a few brews. The charge has not affected my life in the least- I was never denied access to a foreign country, a new job, or anything. I didnt even have to show up in court personally- I retained a lawyer to plead guilty and pay the fine.
A few things I learned from the experience:
1) As has been pointed out in another post- prostitution is not illegal in Canada
2) It is soliciting in a public placethat is against the law ( this does include your car, wherever it may be parked)
3) If the girl doesnt get in your car- dont breathe a word about money or sex-- a cop will positively not get in-- ask her if she would like to go for a ride to "shoot the shit"
4) Most people do not look at you as a pervert for attending to your needs occasionally.
5) The edmonton police service actually has a pretty good website addressing the issue of prostitution.

Hope this helps out-- Stay cool and play safe!!!

Going to school

So today was my court date not to eventful. I plead guilty and the judge informed me I could do Alternative Measures. Basically I have to take a course for a day but no fine or criminal record so not that bad of a day. It was funny I did see four regular SW in the court room today. I will let you guys know how school was.

I have seen them use that blonde before and watched her bust some unsuspecting guys some time ago. Unless they come into your car and give you a bit of a show...drop them off and tell them to have a nice night.

About a year ago I was just about busted when I had an undercover say "sex is 200...I replied...sorry that is not what I was looking for there must be a misunderstanding.

I am glad you got off the charge...but the moral to the story is know your rights, know the laws, and don't violate them...they can't bust you if you follow the rules.
