Another example of the creeping U.S. evangelical BUll SHit --- you should expect similar myopic faith based pronouncements from the Harper Conservatives.

“Washington says it is important not to promote prostitution, and does not want any of its funds to be spent on treating prostitutes.”

Obviously pooning is under global travel influences – thank the U.S. Bush led administration for putting unacceptable conditions around its attempts to help reduce the disease incidence.

Good one

Yeah, that's the idea let's spend millions possibly billions on treating a disease that could've been prevented with a condom. WTF, is going on in that head of his?

additional progressive news from Brazil:

Brazilian Government Introduces Free Contraceptives for All, including Abortifacient Morning-After Pill

BRAZILIA, May 12, 2005 (LifeSiteNews) – Euphemistically dubbed as a “family planning program,” Brazil’s lawmakers launched a program to distribute free contraceptives at the 6,012 hospitals and 63,662 walk-in clinics throughout the country in March.

The controversial program, roundly denounced by the Catholic Church there, includes the abortifacient morning-after pill, despite a Brazilian law prohibiting abortion except in cases of rape or if a mother’s life is in danger because of the pregnancy.

“This is nothing more than medical and moral barbarism, which will pervert our youth,” warned Bishop Rafael Llano Cifuentes, president of the Bishops Committee on Life and the Family for the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops. The free contraceptives program “will promote the sexual perversion of teenagers, which means prostitution,” Bishop Cifuentes added. “It’s like telling teenage girls, go out and enjoy an active sex life for the government will guarantee that you won’t get pregnant.”

According to an Instituto Sensus poll conducted in April, 87% of Brazilians support the use of contraception, while 84% support the free distribution of contraceptives by the government. Eighty-five percent are still opposed to abortion on demand.

That means more girls without sexual experience getting married, then finding out their disappointment!

Imagine if the poor girl finds herself married to a guy who only likes to fuck her ass!

For example, the hapless wife of the Bush appointee to the drug administration who opposes the morning-after pill. It's easy for him to oppose that pill - he only wants anal sex. Unfortunately, his wife didn't enjoy it and divorced him after what she describes as 7 years of sexual abuse. The story:

From a distance, what Bush's right-wing Christian minority is doing to the states probably looks bad. From down here, it looks worse. They're aggressive locally - for example, pharmacists refusing to sell the morning-after pill, even confiscating the prescription, the Kansas Board of Education ignoring their science faculty curriculum committee and holding hearings so nonscientists can argue that creationism belongs in the biology curriculum.

Every day another affront. My consolation - they're the minority, enjoying a brief fling before the sleeping majority wakes up and swats them with a newspaper. As the Bible says, this too shall pass.

My consolation? Belinda Stronach has prevented our right-wing crazies from getting control at this current juncture. I would, however, opine that ours are not as bad as yours. I'm not saying ours aren't scary, but just not as scary.

it would be nice if you all quit reading the newspaper, its been five years since the bushies have been in power and controlled the govt. and nothing has changed. The reason the bushies won was because kerry and the democrats offered no alternative. Like they are out of ideas.

besides its the organizations money they can put any conditions on it that they want. its up to the reciepieant weather they want to accept those conditions if not end of story no big deal.

It's not "the organization's money" --- it's the American taxpayer's money -- your money. And many things have changed --- the bible thumpers have an unprecedented amount of power.

i stand corrected on the money thing hank but the same principals still apply we offer they reject. But the bit about unprecedented powers is not true, i am old enough to remember when the democrats ran everything. Congress(both houses) the courts most states and their respective legislatures. and you may not want to beleave it but i think that is a large part of what is wrong with us today. it is the legacy that the democrats have given america.

This thread is not talking about the power in itself -- it is talking about how it is used. The religious right has never had this kind of power in government, and it is putting your personal freedoms in peril. If the aims of the American Taliban don't bother you, fine .... you have to live with it.
