Best place in Winnipeg to take an SP for Ice Cream

Okay TJ, here's the new thread. It is Winnipeg SP related, with reviews....

DQ has always been my favourite, very consistant with the product, not much YMMV there.

BDI is off my list, watching the owner and manager wander around aimlessly, him collecting up his money from the tills as customers sat freezing waiting for thier damned service, and she wandering around the back, just shows me that I'm not important to them anymore. They know they'll have a line of lemmings at thier door, eager to give them oodles of cash. Apathy seems to have set in.

Lick's: Nice place. Good food.

TCBY: not technically Ice Cream, but good.

Looking forward to trying some of the other recommendations...

SUB ZERO.

Only one till, so I go later or early in the afternoon.

The line goes down the block sometimes, but there is a reason for it.

They serve great alcohol soft ice cream that changes. My fave was a banana rumba. Oh, and the Betty Boop, Strawberry soft serve with chocolate Amaretto sauce. Yummm!

They have over 60 flurries and parfaits. All ice cream and not ice milk.

I like their portions too. They used to have just one size, but have since changed that. The owner died some time ago, but his widow still runs it. It is a house that had been remodeled. Right on the corner of Jamison and Brazier.

Nucci's for me

Also not technically ice cream, I like Nucci's gelati. Yes, I'm one of the many lemmings that crowd Corydon on a hot summer night. But they have many wonderful flavors (and a few clunkers, I must admit) that they are willing to crowd on in pairs or threes on their overstuffed cones or cups. Super dark chocolate/mango? White chocolate/amaretto? Yum.

I've been going for years, and often enough to get to know the family a bit and get a taste of la familiglia. Going to GG's Gelati would be almost being unfaithful! LOL

Best Ice Cream

After hearing what was in ice cream, I decided to learn to make my own. I came across and Rum and Raisin mixture and improved it, nowI make the best rum and raisin Ice Cream, it is to die for. 2 bowls full of this not only will you be impressed, but you will need someone to carry you out.

Although I don't eat any dairy I can't resist a good lick of an ice cream cone (on occasion). It's soooo fantastic after a furious romp in the sack just to bring ya back down to earth.

I would like to find a particular flavor of ice cream that I haven't been able to get my mouth on for quite some time now...it's spumoni. Spumoni is an original ice cream flavor (from Italy) and maybe considered unorthodox by today's standards. If anyone's seen it (not imitations) let me know and I will be very appreciative.

OR maybe I'll have to try out your Rum & Raisin...sound good...maybe skip the raisins

I know you can get the spumoni at a restaurant called the "Collander". Unfortunately it's in Trail, B.C., other than there, I don't know where else.

And to throw my 1/2 cent into this, Banana Boat is very good...but the ice cream place (Dairy Bee?) in Winnipeg Beach is where I go in summer. For a quick stop the ice cream place on St.Anne's just north of Home Depot, east side (name also escapes me) has good stuff. Honestly, as long as the weather is hot, the girls shorts are short and the mosquitos aren't biting, I'll eat the ice cream.

What's the name of the ice cream place in the north part of Selkirk close to the Asylum there? Many of us must notice the long lineup there as we go in for our monthly or weekly checkup. I think it is called ______ Shack? Not sure the first word. But it sure gets busy there. I only had a soft cone there, but they must have spumoni, rum and raisin and all those other good names!

There is another good one called Sonia's Stand on Old Henderson HWY in Lockport.

I like the cherry with the stems which helps me hold on to it while I...dip it...suck it...lick it...sometime even eat it. Like I said I don't like dairy but everything else about ice cream I can "handle".

I am a soft icecreamaholic. There is a general overview that I have about portion control. If you get a chubby little waitress to serve you the portion will always be bigger than the skinny waitress will give you. There is one young gal at Half Moon at Lockport that gives 30 to 50% more than the rest of the waitresses. Guess what? She is a little chubby - but still cute by my standards.

I was told by the owner of the Spotted Cow that the Snack Shak and the Shell station by Shreimers and the Half Moon all get their ingriedients from the same source.

Any ladies that want to go for an icecream with me can PM me and we can go any time they want (I'm officially retired with nothing to do except eat ice cream and have fun with the ladies).
