OK, in a curious mood lately. What is a pooning experience worth to you in terms of your hard earned pay? No, not in terms of dollars but in terms of how hard you work (everyone makes a different amount of money so straight $$ polls are biased to those with more money). This poll doesn't require anyone to divuldge incomes or bring up specific SP rates etc. Should avoid any excitement from various agendas.

Simply figure out your NET hourly wage (this is roughly 46 to 54%...therefore say one half....of your gross salary once income taxes, payroll taxes, average GST/PST etc. are deducted from average individual).

If you don't know your hourly NET wage, take your annual salary, divide by 2000 (approximation), then again by 2 (or by 4000 for those who hate two step linear algebra). Example, if you make $40,000/year, you get $10 net, .....$80,000/year, you get $20 net per hour etc. etc.

Now, with your hourly NET wage in hand, try the poll:

  1. My pooning experience is worth about two hours of my working time
  2. My pooning experience is worth about 1/2 of my working day
  3. I am willing to trade an entire day of hard work for my pooning experience
  4. I am willing to work for several days for one pooning experiene
  5. I will work for up to a week and use all that hard earned money for my hour
    [/list=1]

Hitrack....good point but I didn't want to get into an hour for an hour type scenario as I doubt that would be practical for most unless we were doing this poll in Montreal or everyone is thinking only of the street.

Do you charge interest on your lunch loans? Seems a good way to fund your hobby!

Don't personalize this please

$150 minimum???? Not in Montreal, that is about as high as it gets and is premium price.

But this thread is not about Montreal and not about where you offering me real estate advice. Catalynn, this is also NOT about SP prices... it is a relativity poll. Please ignore it if you don't like it. This is in no way directed at you so why would you out of the blue be so negative and basically tell me to "get out of town?". Such hostility is not required as absolutely none was directed your way - I don't have a clue who you are and the reverse is true as well.

The salaries shown were for illustrative purposes only. No one is asked to, or needs to, bring up salary, hourly wage or SP price. Just do the math on your own, check your "feeling" about the relative worth of your SP encounter, and vote.

So far we have nearly 80% willing to work a few hours to half a day for the NET pay to see an SP. We have a further approximately 20% willing to work days just for the hour with an SP.

:( This poll is making me depress and not wanting to poon anymore. Putting the amount of time one has to work for 1hr of pooning kind of put the hobby into a clear perspective for me..........(thoughts by big head).

WTF?.........(says little head).

Cat - you haven't been in Montreal in a while then. Even the top new agencies (not the ones that you can find in I/N like Annik, the ones that you find when you know Montreal) with Uni girls are under $150.

Anyway, I got a LOL at the Midol. I am probably the most relaxed person in B.C. let alone on this board. What I find fascinating is the relative nature of personal decisions regarding, for example, pooning. I think the poll is both fun and harmless and avoids some of things you imply it does (but now doesn't avoid as you brought it up).

Soooooooo, if you like examples, and the mid-point of the poll seems to be about three to four hours of working to make an hour with an SP (let's pick four to be conservative), and let's take an hourly rate of $160 which seems like a good place to start, the supporting salary for such would be about $160,000 per annum. Interesting. Soooo, as that is likely not the median salary of the gentlemen of Perb, it is likely that while many may say that up to four hours of hard work is worth an hour with a SP, in reality, they are not practicing this. Dual head theory likely.

I saw a post once that said "SP or RRSP".....I loved it!

Anyway, stay relaxed....I certainly am. :D

Did somebody call me...:D

Cat's right. I think this poll is a thinly veiled disguise to complain about the prices in Vancouver. Nobody said this hobby was cheap. I've always had the attitude that you get what you pay for. If that's not the intention of your poll you could have phrased the wording differently.

If your intention was to try to raise awareness and drop prices good on you. I think you're entitled to do so, but don't do it under the guise of a "harmless" poll and act shocked when someone else points it out.

Good that you're so relaxed about it though. :)

Cat,

Like I care if you know him or not. I was questioning his motivation not yours. Everyone wants to get paid more for what they do, but what is in it for someone who wants to pay more for something (not in the distant past) was half the price.

Howie your transparent attempt at presenting a new way of bitching about SP pricing makes you look even more pathetic than usual, seems that anything more than a literal "buck" is beyond your budget for a "bang", so do us all a favour and either quit the constant whining about price or develop a taste for lotrack, at any rate shut the hell up and quit insulting our intelligence!

Has there every been a Poll as to why do we men go pooning? Variety, Frigid old lady at home, mid-lift crisis, addiction, etc..

Just to clarify Fatman...

I agreed with Cat that this poll was really about complaining about prices in Vancouver. I also agreed that it's within Howee's rights to do so, I just had issues about how he worded the poll reponses. Sorry if you read anything more into my post.

And by the way, I'm not paying more now than in the distant past so no need to question my motivation.

:)

Whether or not it's a veiled attempt at trying to bring down prices should not turn this into a big bitchfest. If an SP wants to make more money, then it's her decision to charge more. Likewise, it's in any person's (in this case I mean the males) right on this board as well to question it.

I think there's better, more mature ways of some of the responders on this thread to reply (there are some responses on this thread that come to mind).

If we can be in this "hobby" (whether SP or client), then most likely we are of adult age. So, act like one.

Actually, it was.....

it was never about the "poll"

It was about the poll. Very curious about the thoughts of those who responded (not in words but by voting). Looks like majority of Perberts that responded are happy with up to about a 1/2 day of work to fun a SP session.

Nothing more or less implied or expected from poll.

Wish we could go without hijacking on such. Maybe another time.

If we can be in this "hobby" (whether SP or client), then most likely we are of adult age. So, act like one.
Well said GranolaBoy!!! Not sure it was that bad in this thread but, good grief, have some of them demonstrated a seemingly intention lack of decorum. Those with such intentions should really get a hobby that doesn't involve a computer.

Finally to Mr. Johnny Deep (sounds like a bad '70s porn star name!):

Howie your transparent attempt at presenting a new way of bitching about SP pricing makes you look even more pathetic than usual, seems that anything more than a literal "buck" is beyond your budget for a "bang", so do us all a favour and either quit the constant whining about price or develop a taste for lotrack, at any rate shut the hell up and quit insulting our intelligence!
Wow, I didn't poo in your porridge but you sure are a sensitive one and quite quick to tell someone to "shut the hell up". Interesting way of introducing yourself. You fun in traffic too? How you read what you have read into this is astounding. Johnny, even if you were correct (which you are not - you know nothing about me), if you are a pooner and you want prices to be higher than your Economics professor is wanting to regrade your term paper.

To anyone else who wants to take cheap shots. This was a simple poll put in terms of one's earning power in comparison with one's proclivity to seek out a SP experience. Prices were NOT included as everyone has a different income AND a different value ascribed to a session. I found the results interesting and perhaps have created some thought on the matter for a few who have read and/or participated.

If you are reading more than that into it, perhaps you need to first ask yourself why are you so sensitive about a subject that was not even brought up?

Yes, interesting results so far

Of first 45 people to participate, 80% are in the hour or two to a full day of working for that SP session.

About 5% seem willing to work for a week for a SP session. I'm impressed! A week's net pay is nearly 5% of your annual salary in Canada after all taxation considered. Must be pretty important part of your life that session for the three of you that feel that way.

Perhaps the next poll should be about having higher net incomes so that there is more of your hard earned money left over for hobbies like this one!
