The first page or two is entirely about the event detailed in the first post.

I recommend that ALL the pages be read...especially by those who frequent the tracks.

It not only presents the dark side of the hobby, a good samaritan act that perhaps points out many of our foibles... but it also provides something of a warning.

I highly recommned the post.

Enjoy...or not... it doesn't really matter.

More importantly... learn something from it.

I think most people that have cruised the tracks are aware that there is a dark side to the tracks. However I think I found Sonny Burnetts long lost brother RokDAWG.

I certainly don't agree with Trainspotter's opinion of having security cams on every street in Canada. That reeks of Orwellian totalitarianism.

I was more referring to the license logging by the cops of cruisers on the strips...

In a sense, those cameras are almost there already.

I don't like the fact that it is possible that my license might've been logged from back in the day when I did check out the scene... or it might get picked up when I short cut crappy traffic by going along the streets with less... ahem... traffic.

But I think there are a few lessons there, aside from the obvious one. This wasn't meant as a preaching post... nor was it actually about the darkside of the moon...er..hobby.

We all know about... sometimes we need a reminder. Really... there's some good stuff there to keep in mind and watch out for.

Even professionals can loose their edge once in a while... and who needs a Bertuzzigate in poonland?

Trainspotter9 is a complete moron - having cameras monitoring ever inch of public land to prevent crime, come on. Putting aside the Orwellian aspect of his idiotic plan think of the logistics and economics of his plan. His plan would require millions upon millions of cameras. We would have to scrap health care, education, and every other social program to pay the costs of his plan. Then each of these cameras would need to be monitored to be of much use since there aren't any computer programs that can differentiate a crime in progress versus regular every day activity. Since one person could only monitor a limited number of cameras and you would need multiple shifts you would need to hire millions of people to do the job. The cost of such a plan would be astronomical.

The cameras work in Monte Carlo.

It is said that you can leave your best jewels in the front seat of your car with the ignition running and the doors wide open, and your jewels will still be there the next day.
