It is frequently advised that one should use an asterisk at the end of a word when trying to do a 3 letter word search. This doesn't actually work properly.
For example, if you want to find all messages with the word "dog" in them, and search for dog*, you will not find a single message with the word dog in it. You will, however, find messages with the word dogmatic, dogs, dogeared, etc.
In other words, it only works if the 3 letter word you are searching for is part of a longer word, specifically, if it has letters after it.
In the same way, searching for *dog will also not find any messages with the word dog, but it will find hounddog, topdog, etc.
If you want to test this out quickly, do a search, Titles only, on the word bex* in the Vancouver Massage forum. It will tell you there are no matches, meaning there are no messages with the word bex in the title.
Then go to the vancouver massage forum, where there are plenty of messages which have the word Bex in the title.
Is there any solution for this?
