Um...so.... the criteria for a better game is nothing but hitting?
:|
Well maybe if the Nucks would do more of that they wouldn't have had
to go 7 games to decide the outcome with Dallas when they were ahead
3 games to 1.
Hate to say it CJ but like my last post it seems the NEW nhl or the
No Hit League is what the game has become.
Hockey is a contact sport plain and simple. Sure we still see the odd
crunch along the boards every once in a while but holy crap remember
what the game was like 25 years ago??
There was one rule.......you touch the puck your dead. If you ain't dead
you will be. Players respected each other more IMO back then.
Just ask any player who was on the receiving end of Gordie Howe's
elbows.
Today they don't even have to bother with making the choice if they respect another player or not on the ice, as it doesn't even matter because the
playing field has been turned into something completely dull in that regard.
although be it for the odd exception.
Shamefull ! Hmmm, sounds kinda like Political correctness has made
it's way onto the ice surface as well.

........
Shamefull.........especially!
Hockey is just not what it used to be and to say anything different might
not be anyones fault as possibly they were to young to know what hockey
was like prior to the eighties.
Perhaps it's not the players fault, we just haven't been allowed to be
able to see what these guys have in them as the refereeing has
staunched anything that resembles the good ol' days.
For example.....Stan Mikita, Ivan Cournier, Rocket Richard, Bobby Orr,
Tony Esposito, Phil Esposito, Guy Lafleur, Frank Mahovlich, Terry O'Reilly, Stan Jonathan, could you imagine what would be said of these few if the
new nhl politcally correct bullshit existed back then. Their names wouldn't hardly even exist in memory. Except maybe for the style of refereeing that
would have burried their existance.
We would never have had the chance to hear Tiger Williams tell the CBC
audience in Chicago that there are a lot of high doorknobs in that city on
that particular night in Chicago when he was interviewed by one of the CBC staff during an intermission about how he got that gash on his eyebrow..........wasn't that part of "THE RUN" back in '84?
Memories my fellow true NHL's.......memories that I doubt will be talked
about of the game today 25 years from now except for the fact that the
game sucked back in the early 2000's the way the NHL is run today.
Is there a smidgieon of a chance that at least in the final matchup that
the referee's will shove that god damn whistle up there ass sideways so
that we can see what true NHL players are made of once again to at least
let them "Play the game" and have a few good memories to continue the TRADITION known as Hockey.
Remember when Hockey night in Canada's sig was...The tradition
continues? Haven't seen that one for a long time.
Please god let it be so.............
Case closed.
