Some ladies are working today. The Sunday of a long weekend, and it is BEAUTIFUL outside. And worse, horrors upon horrors, it is the CFL Labour Day Classic! Wpg VS Sask! What self respecting Manitoban would be out pooning when there is classic CFL action to be had? Now I am sure they will be super busy Mon and Tues with suppressed demand, but today? What in the world are they thinking? GO BLUE!!! :D ;)

Phhhggft! NFL is a game, not a sport. CFL is a far superior product, with admittedly inferior marketing....
Come on, I watch both leagues and the reality is that if the worst NFL team played the Grey Cup champs, the NFL team would be 30 point favorites and cover by half time.

Don't mistake the quality of the player for the quality of the game. Of course the US has more high caliber players than we do. They have 10 times the population base! Statistically they would have to simply because they have a much larger pool of candidates to pull from. Factor in that football is much more a part of their culture than ours, leading to more schools with a strong football culture, they simply have to have more high caliber players than Canada does. That is the player.

Now, look at the game. We have the wiggle, a larger, wider, longer field and only 3 downs to move the ball 10 yards, along with other, superior rules. You take a US team, plop them down on our field, our rules, and no extra training, they would be lost.

They have more higher quality players as a result of statistics. We have a superior game as the result of design.

You do realize the CFL is where guys go when they weren’t good enough for the nfl right? Guys can’t even make an nfl team but go on and dominate in the cfl because it’s not even close to the same caliber of football. Population is irrelevant in this argument. Yes rules are different but I mean viewership alone wins this argument. How many people watch the grey cup and how many watch the Super Bowl

"Alas, I am surrounded by fools!" I am not sure who I just quoted, but obviously someone very smart! :rolleyes:Statstics rule the world and have everything to do with everything! That is rather self evident.

Beyond that you are missing the key premise of my argument. I clearly stated that I am discussing the game, not the players.

Two very different things. Do not conflate one with the other.

Moved to the lounge, this isn't a 411 thread. The field size, the rules and scoring are all more fun in Canada, but don't equate that to quality of the players. The quality of the players is not even close. Nathan Rourke, the best quarterback in the CFL at that time, could not make it as a 3rd stringer with NFL teams. Only a small handful of players who excelled in Canada have ever made it past training camp in the NFL. This includes Americans who came north when they couldn't make the NFL out of college. Only Warren Moon has ever truly been a hall of famer as a player in both leagues.

Maybe a good mention for Doug Flutie....

Damn. Now I will have to see you next time you come to Wpg!
I have some very good friends from Winnipeg and one even moved back there. But I will most likely never visit Winnipeg. Nothing against Winnipeg but I have lots of regulars here. I see no need to tour. Maybe if Europe was in Canada, I’d tour!! Hahaha

Quite simply - you think the CFL game is superior because you like it more. It really isn't.
Superior rules? You mean like giving a team a point for failing? LOL! Well, not sure about superior, but it's certainly the most Canadian rule ever!
Superior game? You mean a game with more punts, more turnovers and more penalties?

As for an NFL team being lost if they were dropped into a CFL game? You have to be kidding (or trolling) with that comment. With pre-snap motion open to NFL receivers a CFL DB would have to play 20 yards off the line to not get burned every play! The CFL DB's would be getting torched all day long!

I don’t watch NFL football much, games are boring I find with the occasional play that elicites some attention. Used to like the Super Bowl when the commercials were shown in Canada, they were often more entertaining than the game, half time shows usually had some good entertainment.

Young football players all over the United States dream of one day playing in the Banjo Bowl.
I,, personally,, enjoy the banjo bowl, but I doubt many young players in the US have even heard of it.
Both CFL&NFLare exciting to watch, each with their own identities.
I would love to see the Chiefs and Bills play a 4 down game in a CFL stadium...with the extra room, especcially in the end zones,, Mahomes and Allen would go wild. The punters probably wouldn't get off the bench!
