I got caught once.... Stupid me, left my cell in the bathroom by accident. So hunted down my old iPhone 4s, cleaned it right out to basics. I searched online for the least expensive basic service. It is currently 11 bucks a month. I keep this phone powered down hidden under some papers in my study, (man cave). Access it once a day. It only goes out with me when on a planed adventure. So far this one has been good for me.
Better start looking for a new one 4s is 3G if I remember correctly, 3G is being shut down in the next year or so.

Everywhere in BC
Is this the app you're talking about? https://www.burnerapp.com/
do you get local numbers from it? So if a provider sees the number it's going to be a Vancouver area code, not from some random place out in the world knowing you're hiding yourself?...curious how it really works.

Keeping that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations for burner phones?
London Drugs. Got a little Japser ZTE smartphone for the Chatr system a few years ago. Still works good, a bit small for my big hands, but it does what it's supposed to do. Chatr is good service to use, works well around the lower mainland. They don't ask questions when signing up. No ID needed. Store Clerk doesn't give a fuck setting you up either. Any cheap phone would do anyways. As long as you can text, talk, and send a pic.

And what? Your wife, cops, or vengeful provider trying to blackmail you, you'll only lose $100 when you toss it away.

You are correct, I use a Verizon phone for work and was getting my information from them. I was also trying to find out what happens if take my car into the US, it’s a 2019, will the 3G system still work?
You should check with your car manufacturer.. I have heard that Tesla offers to replace the original modem with a LTE capable one for $200ish.

This article has some good information:

Thanks for the reply. I guess I can just use my old phone if 3G is going to be around in Canada for a while.

I am not sure if someone has already mentioned it or not but I have been using 7 Eleven's Speak Out without any glitch. It is discreet and usually $100 last me over a year (at my present rate of pooning) They even gave me a free phone with $100 minutes. The phone was crappy but it worked. This year I saw a Motorolla on sale in Cost CO so I put the Speak Out sim in it. It works great!
I keep it at my work and I usually take it out only when it is poon time.

Also, if you upload new minutes before the expiry of the previous minutes, the old ones roll over as well. There are no bills, you just walk into a 7 Eleven, pay cash or credit card and off you go.

Sorry I’m new. Why don’t you just use your normal phone? Just confusing.
Privacy, paranoia, security, call it whatever you like. Many of us who partake in this little hobby have other people in the family who might come across something incriminating on our regular phones, either because they're nosy or just by accident.
Also solicitation of an SP's services is technically illegal for the paying customer, so in days past alot of guys used burner phones to stay anonymous and not have any evidence on our regular phones for LE or a divorce lawyer to use against us.

GeeBeeP answered my question already.

Personally speaking only thing I am concerned about is my SO and kids. If I was single I wouldn’t give a damn about getting caught.

So not judging, but wouldn't a SO finding a burner phone be a bit of a red flag for them?
Very possible, so hiding in plain sight works for me. In a box of other old electronics, cables and dongles that no one ever pays any attention to. Some guys also keep in in their car and if found it can be passed off as an "in case of emergency" phone.
