Can someone advise me about a reputable computer repair shop in Winnipeg. My friend is in need of some repairs and upgrades to her laptop computer (Compaq).

I've used IC Enternet on St Mary's Rd & Marion before. They seem to be OK with the repairs but really F'n slow, takes for ever to get anything back. I also tries Microage on Portage ave once. They had it for 10 days and still wouldn't tell me when they would look at it. They really seemed like A-Holes as well anytime I called.

Sorry that's not much help, if you do find a good place let me know.

EDIT There is a place on Taylor, Nexinovation or something like that, I used them for warrenty work on my laptop last year, they seemed OK.

Hi Wpgguy, I used MicroAge on Portage Ave all the time, they were always polite, they fixed our company IBM laptop, HP& Toshiba quickly; some of the HP laser printers were the same day turn around, most of their on-site calls at our office were fixed right on the spot including some huge HP color laser printer. What kind of equipments & what brand name did you take it there?

It was a high end HP printer, I just couldn't get a them to even look at it. After ten days of "We will get to it in a couple of days, goodbye" I gave up. I went to pick it up to go else were and the clown at the desk wanted me to pay for them having "looked at it" but I had called 20 Min's before and was told that they "might look at it in a day or two." It took me almost an hour just to get out of there that day.

Maybe it was just bad luck on my part, but I'll never go back.

Hey Wpgyuy,
How long ago was your bad experience? Is the clown at the service desk male or female? I usually dealt with the lady at the service desk. Our company has been doing business there for over 21 years now. Their warranty work for IBM, HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Lexmark were one of the very best in town. They were the best IBM Premium warranty service provider in Canada for 6 years in a roll since IBM/Lenovo introduced the award. It was too bad you have such a bad experience.

It was about 5-6 years ago, and was a guy on the service desk, probably 23 to 27 or so. I also talked to an older guy about 35 or 40 at the end.

I guess you have had better luck than me, they pissed me off enough that I'll never go back again. I'll keep going someplace new until I find a place I like.
