If Ford is wrong, and Kavanaugh is innocent but that still causes him to lose his seat....there's probably going to be one huge libel suit coming her way.
NOBODY is going to sue Ford. She's badly damaged and was merely the pawn the Democrats used for their purposes.Actually Ford loses either way. She lost just by playing. She already said, second only to the (alleged) assault itself, this has been the most traumatic experience of her life. The woman is getting death threats. Even if somehow he was legitimately determined to be guilty, that's not going away.
The point about death threats is that Big_Guy_Rye suggested she had nothing to lose, when in fact she lost just by coming forward. She knew what would happen and did it anyway. (Kinda like taking an airplane for her maybe?) Kavanaugh is getting death threats too and that's equally despicable but he didn't willingly invite it upon himself. She did. So that hardly qualifies as doing it because she had nothing to lose. She was bloody terrified of coming forward.NOBODY is going to sue Ford. She's badly damaged and was merely the pawn the Democrats used for their purposes.
Kavanaugh has also received death threats, I might point out.
If anybody gets sued, it would hopefully be Michael Avenatti.
Called it. They've tied the FBI's hands. And Trump weasels as usual by saying the White House won't limit the FBI, which is technically true because it's actually the Senate that set the limitations of who they can talk to. Odds of Flake calling them out on only giving his request lip service and not honouring the spirit of the request are next to nil.My money is on this new probe turning up nothing because of that "limited scope" caveat. They'll block the FBI from pursuing anything meaningful and then say "we did what you asked and, see, nothing..."
And the questions that were asked of him were "Did you drink on a weekday night?".What does Ford have to gain by lying????
What does Kavanaugh have to gain by lying???
I watched Kavanaugh testimony again last night and it was even more pathetic the second time. I’m not judging who’s telling the truth here. But the optics were terrible.
I went to Yale
I got good grades
I captained the basketball team
I lifted weights
I drank beer
I deserve this
I partied
All the while yelling and crying and making faces and being belligerent. Just bloody aweful and pathetic and juvenile and entitled.
Compared to Gorsuch, he’s an empty shell.
I’m sick of the guy.
I've already seen a lot of this kind of comment on social media, trying to build in the excuse if things don't go the Democrats' way.Called it. They've tied the FBI's hands. The biases are coming from the players in this story. I'm not parroting social media, I'm basing this comment on the articles quoting FBI sources.I've already seen a lot of this kind of comment on social media, trying to build in the excuse if things don't go the Democrats' way.
But if the FBI proves Ford's case, then the FBI did an outstanding job.
Why can't people set aside their biases, and just let things play out?
which is in part what I said above, re: Trump passing the buck.“The scope and duration has been set by the Senate," Shah told Fox News. "The White House is letting the FBI agents do what they are trained to do.”
Blasey Ford is an emotional wreck, but we don't know the reason for that, and questioning didn't even try to find out her mental state.... in fact she lost just by coming forward. She knew what would happen and did it anyway. She was bloody terrified of coming forward.
Anyway, yes she's damaged. Yes the Democrats are using her. Somebody damaged her though (well before this got political). With some luck maybe the FBI will figure out how. It might've been Kavanaugh.
As to Avenatti, it's odd they haven't contacted his client. In terms of low hanging fruit to help restore faith in Kavanaugh, you think he'd be a good choice. If anyone is bluffing, it's Avenatti.
Articles are secondary sources and therefore biased. The biases are coming from the players in this story. I'm not parroting social media, I'm basing this comment on the articles quoting FBI sources.
Everyone with a position of power involved in this has an agenda: The Democrats have an agenda, the Republicans have an agenda. They're both frothing at the mouth. No one in authority is actually interested in exploring the truth. They're too busy trying to lock in the outcome they want. The FBI, the only player who is non-partisan, is not allowed to do what they should do. According to their own sources.
It's a bloody farce.
BYW just for reference, here's Fox News quoting a White House spokesman:
which is in part what I said above, re: Trump passing the buck.
And that's why I checked in on Fox News, the source most likely to be biased for Trump and against the Democrats. And still it's there.Articles are secondary sources and therefore biased.
The FBI director is an appointed position, and not elected. Therefore he has an agenda too.
Not clear what your point is there. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but it sounds like you're implying either (a) she's got motivation for lying or (b) will be compensated for reinflicting a measure of her life long trauma? She will get an inevitable book deal, as well as remuneration by the DNC and probably a speakng tour.
At last count there are all these gofundme pages that have raised almost $1 million for her so far.

Addendum: As of now the FBI still has not contacted Ford.My prediction is that the FBI won't investigate Ford because she was careful enough not to say anything that can be investigated. So they will go after Kavanaugh's statements and if he misrepresented anything at the end of the week they will call him a liar and goodbye Kavanaugh's judgeship and hello to Ford's book tour.
Two hours in and they haven't contacted her?Addendum: As of now the FBI still has not contacted Ford.
There were still some odd things in her testimony. Like whether her lie detector test was taken the day of, or day after her grandmother's funeral. Who could possibly NOT remember those dates from a couple of weeks ago. Just how faulty is her memory? The fact it was a day she was weeping throughout also makes the test competely useless. No ethical tester would test someone during such an emotional time.My prediction is that the FBI won't investigate Ford because she was careful enough not to say anything that can be investigated. So they will go after Kavanaugh's statements and if he misrepresented anything at the end of the week they will call him a liar and goodbye Kavanaugh's judgeship and hello to Ford's book tour.
Fear not: questions about his drinking habits and related things he may have misled on during the hearing are reportedly "out of scope".My prediction is that the FBI won't investigate Ford because she was careful enough not to say anything that can be investigated. So they will go after Kavanaugh's statements and if he misrepresented anything at the end of the week they will call him a liar and goodbye Kavanaugh's judgeship and hello to Ford's book tour.
