This isn't a major item, but more annoying then anything.

My IP is SHAW and in saying that, my primary email address is XXX@shaw.ca. There is somebody else out there who is using my email address and ordering songs from iTunes on a continuous basis. When they do place their order, I am sent a copy of their receipt to my email address.

I've tried:
- calling Shaw (wait time is 1-2 hours and I gave up)
- creating a rule in Outlook that when I recieve an email from iTunes to have it deleted. Outlook comes back with a message 'You don't have permission to delete this message".

I don't know what else to do. It does show the persons name and address, but when I did a search on them (they are also in Edmonton), I can't find their number.

Any suggestions? Perhaps a techie in the audience can give me an idea.

thanks,
Cruiser

How about cutting it off at the source?

I know zip about iTunes, but how do you pay for it?

Through your credit card? Cancel that credit card.
Through your phone bill? Don't pay your next phone bill, or cancel your credit card, or put a stop payment on it at the bank. You can bet Shaw will call you once that happens.

P.S. What good does creating an Outlook rule to auto-delete iTunes e-mails do? Isn't that like throwing your bills in the trash and hoping they go away?

P.P.S. Is scamming someone using iTunes as easy as getting someone's e-mail address? That doesn't sound possible...

Call Apple Help, give them your e-mail address and explain the problem. Ask them to close the iTunes account.

I'M NOT the person ordering the songs. Somebody is using my email address, paying for the songs with their own money, etc and then using my email address as "their" address and I get sent their receipts after they make their purchase.

Reread my original email again and you will understand the point that I'm making.

that'll be it all right... cruizer, you've been spammed/phished - mark it as spam in your browser. if you've got outlook you can try blocking it. in addition to blocking the address, block the domain (that is the '@xxx.com or .ca' or whatever)

Yeah its just a scam. I have had it, and never use Itunes.

Its like when you get a junkmail from your bank or bank you never even used, or paypal, or ebay.
Asking you to sign in right away...through their link

I don't think it's SPAM because I'm getting at least one receipt a day. The person is ordering a variety of songs, etc. I've marked it as SPAM but I think all that's going to happen is that it will just push to my Junk folder.

I've looked at the Apple website and they don't simply give you an email address. They give you forms to fill out etc. I did send one email to one email but I don't think it did anything.

oh it did something - it alerted the spammer/phisher to the fact that he's got a 'live one' on the line... that's why they call it phishing. now that he knows your email address is a 'live' one, you can expect to get other ones, maybe fake messages from banks, western union scams etc.

don't reply to this shit - if an email doesn't make any sense to you, mark it as spam and ignore it, they'll move on to other more gullible email addresses, but if you answer it - look out

surprised that Outlook won't block it. right click on it and you should get a choice to call it junk mail then block sender. however the sender is likely itunes if your assumption is correct. did you try to reply to it to see where the reply would go? just don't use the send button.

next i would try logging into itunes and see if u can use that address to recover the log in ID AND PASSWORD. in theory that information would come to the registered email address. then go in and delete the account.
