I have done paint ball once with the actual gas powered guns. Also did it with slingshots when I lived in Chilliwack 20+ years ago.

Never tried airsoft though and it gets pretty gross.I have looked at youtube videos this past weekend and there is a 4 barrel minigun on the market that spits out 2400 rounds a minute. That is a shitload of firepower that you can shoot other people
with as they are willing participants same as you.

Never tried it though it looks appealing. Played paintball on a tournament team (Untouchables in Victoria) for over 15 yrs. I like the different weapons available. Might give it a try one day

I'd say the average age of the airsoft enthusiast is in their late 30s surprisingly enough around Vancouver.

Keep in mind the feet per second fps of any gun you purchase if you want to go play at any facilities as the average player will figure out quickly what you are using .

Expect to spend more than a real rifle would cost you for a good rifle as $1500 is not unheard of

In softness, strength.
For that kind of money you can buy a really decent 1911. But then that's the real thing with real ammo.
I have heard that airsoft stuff can get really pricey.

The 1911 is a superior weapon, which is why it has been manufactured, and copied for over a hundred years....it has proven itself in countless battles...I have several, including one from WW1 that's serial number is in the 3200's..it is one of my prized possessions, as it is stamped Cavalry issue.
The model saw service in all Wars in the 20th century, and is still being produced.

The problem with your theory is.....you may not have too many friends willing to play "bullet tag" with you.

Thanks for the feedback.Yeah I know it can get pricey but that is where Ebay comes in handy.I saw a very nice electric M-249 SAW on there which is fully automatic and has a 2500 round magazine as well as a bi-pod for $350 + free shipping in the USA.Get it sent to At the Border Storage at the Montana border and pick it up on the 1st Saturday of the month.....not to mention I would get to load up on payday bars and BBQ pork rinds as well.

Absolutely. Fabulous piece you have there and I enjoy mine as well. I see why you treasure that as one of your
crown jewels. I swapped out the stock barrel and had a Fusion match Competition bbl replacement put it insides of it.
Now its all most a tack driver at 10 meters shooting freehand knocking off sub 1" groups using 200 grn RSFP's

Buddy of mine has an original WW11 he got handed down from
his Dad as its stamped Army issue and even has the holster it came in.
Interesting how those of WW11 have a very slightly narrower profile of all or most of the ones that came
after it. Meaning the more moderns styles. Essentially though they still look the same after a 100 years,

Btw, what theory were you talking about? I don't remember submitting any theories especially wanting to
swap bullet weight impacts. lol.
1911 with hollow points or any points for that matter is a devastating piece. Hence why they were made
for one thing and one thing only. Man killers, and have been in service since WW1.

The theory comment was more of an idea.......an idea of using Colts to play air soft ....I have a strange sense of humor, as a lot of people here can tell you.

.....and yes my cavalry issue .45 is almost as effective when you turn it around and use it as a hammer.
Coincidentally ....I also have the issue Cavalry locking holster it was issued with, including the legstrap, and the folding army hook knife to trim and Doctor your horses feet...if I remember right it may have been manufactured by Colt as well, but I'd have to check on that.
It's a family heirloom....it seems Soldiering runs in the family.

All of this talk about the Colt 1911 and yet no mention of the German Luger in 9 MM Parabellum or the Broom Handle Mauser.....if I got caught in a pistol fight to the death I would much rather be packing a Broom handle Mauser....truly nasty bastard of a pistol.

i like ur sense of humour, it runs somewhat along my lines as well. I just tend to .........ahem...holster mine more. lol.
Actually I would love see the tech put into an airsoft 1911 pistol of Colt or S&W design. That would be right up my alley
being a once IDPA participant. Love the fun but to many stupid rules ruins the fun. All the fun of paint ball but
ur penalized heavily for shooting "grandma" lol. The urban combat training aspect was interesting teaching you
to cover and fire and move and fire.
Hopefully it never has to be put to use. Amen!

That would be interesting to find out if the hook knife was made by colt as well and came with the pistol.
Keep me posted if you can find some info.
My family had 3 members who soldiered in WW11 overseas. Two fortunately enough served well and were able
to return as wounded war vets. (fortunates that they returned, NOT fortunate that they were wounded)
I thought I better add that incase some moron said something stupid.
One member was said to have made it part way up Juno beach but that was it.
No family soldiering after that which I'm aware of.

That would depend on the application of what type of gun fight to the death you would be referring to.

i'll stick to my .45ACP and a belt full of mags in a combat stand off if it ever came to that.

In an OK Corral type of draw and fire that would be best served by the old revolver single
action army type Colt .45's and their many respective clones.

Sifupoon and Storm....if you ever get the chance, you should try Cowboy Action Shooting.
I ended up with a horse that had competed in the sport.....so I figured if he had done it before I'd try the mounted competition.
Turned out he was an old campaigner, and put me right in the place I needed to be...I didn't win, but I had a lot of fun.
Your just shooting blanks at balloons ...or if your in the fast draw, your timed against another opponent , but it's interesting how with a little practice you can become lightning fast....that probably has something to do with the fact you have nobody shooting back at you.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to dedicate to the sport, but if you have a single action . 45 , you are on your way too having some fun.
Rugger makes the Vaquero .45 Long Colt single action....you can pick one up for 600 dollars used in black or stainless.
For the Mounted competition I used a Winchester , Trapper A-1 30-30 with. 16 inch barrel, customized with a winter ring lever.

Interesting you should mention that. When I shot IDPA I said to fellow competitors it would be
a blast to be able to use my 2 old SA Virginian Dragoon .44s for this match. Bet I could shoot up a
storm with them but timing would have to be changed as reloading is nowhere goin to be the same
as with semi-autos.
They said...........Go check out SASS. I did. Great fun but expensive to get into. DAMN IT.
But I am working on it. Looking at getting a black powder .45 remington cartridge conversion
to use for that as well. Love Blackpowder shooting.
With those older style long barrel Dragoons and the 1858 Remingtons
cartridge conversion type revolver
they are clumsy so speed and time is going to kill me in any competition.

But who cares if ur having fun. lol.
I went last year and again this year to the Cowboy action events and found
shooters use old 44/40 blackpowder revolvers/rifles or those Ruger Vaquero in 4 5/8 to 5 inch
barrels in the SA Colts and Colt equivalents and of course like you said Sybian the 30-30 winchester
rifles. I do have a model 94 Winchester in 30-30 but it needs serious work to be of any use
Fascinating was the external firing pin type Blackpowder side by side Shotguns.
Do they ever make a hell of a lot of smoke.

Some of them Cowboys they are lightning fast on the draw some of those
old veterans. Really cool stuff to watch and its very similar to IDPA.........just a different era which
is more appealing to me. :yo::)
Oh this was all Hombre class so no Horseback riding and everything is shot with live ammo
at steel targets. There was also exhibition shoots where they would mimic stage coach
and train robberies.
Thats where the side by side shotguns were mostly used of course along with
side arms but what a hoot that was to watch. No live ammo in those shoots of course. lol.

If you end up with a Parabellum....let me know.
I have 20,000 Military rounds I can give you for free.

You can keep them as I know I will NEVER own a restricted firearm like a pistol as I do not have the need or desire to.I have and maintain my non-restricted PAL and under current legislation I am allowed as a law abiding citizen who has a legally obtained PAL to own and purchase semi-automatic rifles that under the current MEDIA hype are called "assault rifles".Soon comes before the next election is going to be the Lieberal Long Gun Registry 2.0 which will BAN handguns as well as semi-automatic rifles because us legal law abiding gun owners are such a threat to society......meanwhile the turnstile Lieberal slap on the wrist legal industry will roll forward and the CRIMINALS that perpetrate the crimes walk in and out of the Legal industry on a daily basis.

The cost of the Long Gun Registry under Chretien was supposed to cost 2 MILLION.....it cost 2 BILLION.....now is the time of Trudeau 2.0 so the cost will most likely be say about 6 BILLION as he is in no way shy about pissing away tax payer money for any reason.

I was thinking about getting into airsoft until tonight.....saw a few videos on youtube that showed just plain outright assholish behaviour and I am soured on it.....when some douchebag gets into a fist fight over being shot I dont want to even think about dealing with such a person.

Sorry for keeping this thread off topic. It'll be my only post to this thread.

People see in people what they want to see. Some people see Liberal PM and they instantly think complete gun ban when in fact "Past Liberal governments lost a lot of support, particularly among men, for firearms-control initiatives. Trudeau has repeatedly said he doesn’t want to revisit the idea of a gun registry, which became a flashpoint for Liberal critics in the 1990s." In similar thought, gun manufacturers thought Trump would be great for their industry, and many had donated heavily into his election campaign. In truth, Trumps presidency has forced a number of gun manufactures like Remington into bankruptcy. Tribalism will/has ruined modern society far faster than anything else I can think of.
