170 MPH going into a turn?

No 17-year-old should be allowed to race at that level.

She was Formula 4 for three years and driving in some form since she was 5. Racing young is kind of the norm. Lewis Hamilton (top of the F1 game) moved up to Formula 3 at 15.

Story is the other car you see go up against the boards clipped her car and sent it spinning.

Edit to correct: sounds it was actually her and Jehan Daruvala that initially collided, then in turn clipped Sho Tsuboi, which is the second car you see go into the boards, and that's what sent her airborne.

Danica Patrick was a star, too. Never did anything, but because she was young and hot, made a career for herself.

Greg Moore was also a young phenom. Inexperience is usually the cause of accidents from pros and amateurs.

It was indeed her first season in Formula 3, but I was just saying that being 17 is not an uncommon age and they can have quite a few years under their belts by then. (Kinda have to to be bumped up.) Her history looked decent, according to Wikipedia: "She made double Ginetta history at Thruxton by becoming the youngest driver to win a Ginetta Junior race, and also the first rookie to win two out of two races in one weekend." So yeah inexperience maybe, but at any age you still have to have a first season.

I wish I could find video of the initial crash. By the time she comes into frame her car's already in pieces and airborne. I'm curious to see how it started. I wonder if it happened before the breaking zone, which would explain why she's going so fast.

The beautiful Fraser Valley !

That's a serious Crash, and it's very Sad to see, Anyone seriouslyInjured !
Especially, enjoying a Sport, They're completely passionate about !

Formula 1 Type Racing, definitely has more inherent Risks, for exposing the Driver to serious Injury ?

This Daytona 500 Crash, from a few Years, had Driver Austin Dillon's Car going about 190 MPH( 305 KmH for the Metric Police), come to a complete stop in about 3 Seconds !
That's a Hell of a Deceleration, and resulting G-Forces !

Yet He walked away ?

And here's the POV, from Front row, in the Stands !

Probably, just as Scary ?

Cheers

On TSN's website they have a video with this view and one other camera angle. Accidents like this happen no matter a driver's age or experience sometimes. Yes she's only 17 but that's not necessarily the contributing factor. At the speed racers go all it takes is a slight clip of the tires or wing and the car goes out of control. Canadian IRL driver Robert Wickens was in a serious crash earlier this season had over 10 years experience driving over different Formula levels. Unfortunately he may never walk again but he is rehabbing hard to change that. Luckily no one was killed, hopefully Sophia's spinal fracture surgery goes well.

I've now seen a couple of angles, and it looks like she's going double, maybe triple the speed of other drivers.

Maybe a stuck throttle.
