An Escort’s Revie: Nanaimo

I love Nanaimo. It’s a rough & tumble city, as most port cities are (or used to be!). I think as a tourism destination, it might be BC’s best kept secret! As a deep-water port, Nanaimo has a long history for this part of the country. The Hudson’s Bay Company built the Nanaimo Bastion in 1853, a year after the discovery by Europeans of rich coal deposits in the area. That brought the first boom to the boomtown! I had a visitor from Wyoming last summer (hi, D!) who loves the area so much I think he told me he’d spent his last 4 summer vacations on Vancouver Island; Nanaimo is “Hub City” for anything going down Island towards Victoria or up Island (maybe to Tofino?) at all.
I love to spend time in the Old City area of Nanaimo. Great restaurants (though sadly Acme Food Co. is closed; I think Mrs. Riches’ is still a going concern) and shopping await just a few blocks from the Inner Harbour. The waterfront offers a protected swimming area, a seaplane terminal, and even a fishing pier. The day I was there, numerous families were pulling big healthy Dungeness crabs out of the water like there was no end to them! (Did I check to see that all the crabs were male? Nope…but I devoutly hope they were!) I was envious for that taste from my childhood; fresh crab, still warm, cooked in the backyard on a Coleman stove. Serve with lemon & cocktail sauce; no butter required! It stayed on my mind all day; best I could do back at my hotel was the Bar Chips appetizer. Yummy crab, cream cheese, jalapeno goodness on tortilla chips? Yes please!

I simply cannot say enough good things about the Coast Bastion Inn. Newly reopened after a third floor flood forced a renovation, it boasts a conveniently located, well-appointed hotel with a terrific staff. Friendly & yet unobtrusive, I had no difficulty working there, nor did my guests have any trouble finding me. While one does have to walk past the front desk to go to the elevators, one must also walk past those same elevators to access the very busy meeting rooms. There were large events every day/evening while I was there, and there was no key card required for the elevators to my knowledge. For those who prefer a little meet, greet & eat before the main event, Minnoz restaurant & lounge is comfortable, classy without being stuffy, and the food is great! Over my4 day visit, I ate er, continental breakfast, salad & an omelette. All of it was great, including the Chicken Avocado (No Spinach) Salad. On the menu, it’s prepared with baby spinach but I can’t eat that, so I requested mixed spring greens be substituted. Not an issue at all! I would also recommend FoodKoma as a great bubble tea place. The (super good-looking!) owner gave me the first bubble tea I have ever really enjoyed! I wasn’t a fan going in because of the texture…he gave me a Green Apple Green Tea with green apple flavoured coconut jellies. Because there was no ‘fish egg’ sensation, I found it delicious and wonderfully refreshing! I’d go back again just for that!

About the clients; Nanaimo was very kind to me the first two days of my stay, and very strange for the last two. Of course, it was delightful to know getting on the ferry that I had a visit booked with a review board member that would pay for the first two nights of my stay; I simply hoped that I would get enough guests to make my stay worthwhile. He was delightful; kindly picked up a phone top up card at my request so i wouldn't run out of minutes while touring & unable to drive anywhere! We met up in the lounge (Minnoz) in the hotel. Had the gentleman in question not needed to return to work, we might have started our encounter there over a glass of Island crafted wine or beer! Instead, we were thirsty for one another. One very vigoourous romp (and an ADMIRABLE & determined effort and round 2) later, he was dressing to return to the office for a long evening, and I was into a hot bath! Friday morning after a gorgeous breakfast, I was privileged to entertain a lovely senior gentleman who had spent the last 8 years of her life as his wife's caregiver as she lost the battle against Alzheimer's disease. I take pleasure in giving pleasure; when someone says "It's been so long since anyone touched me", and means it from the heart, it's always special. On Saturday, I got rather more than my share of Penthouse Forum wanna-bes. Every working escort knows the type: given the opportunity, they will eagerly book an overnight so that they may spin increasingly “out there” sexual fantasies for their own titillation, then get indignant when you ask them to prove their sincerity. Really, when your phone number shows up as being from a US State 2000 miles away, but you claim to be on Vancouver Island for work, you shouldn’t consider it unreasonable to call me from a local number. (Best way to prove you are who you say you are in this circumstance? Let me hear you pronounce “NANAIMO”!) Likewise, if you are asking me to extend my stay another day & commit to providing you with overnight access to all my goodies, asking you for a deposit seems reasonable, especially after you tell me you intend to spend the night done up on coke. After all, when you show up at the hotel looking for a room for the night, they are going to ask you to provide a credit card even if you pay cash to ensure you don’t trash the place, right? If you don’t want to get ripped off by an unscrupulous provider, don’t see one! If you want to ensure that the provider won’t rip you off, don’t provide the answer to the secret question until everyone’s naked! Problem solved!
Conclusion: I’d return to Nanaimo again if I had enough inquiries & prebooked appointment requests. I don’t think I would tour solo again: having a partner along for duos is fun, but only needing to cover half of the hotel stay makes so much more sense! Better yet, tour to cities where somebody has already offered to pay for my airfare and my stay when I am there! (Kelowna: you’re next!)

That seems about right. Plus ever-expanding acres of suburbia and retirement complexes.

As Ms. Erica notes, they have done a nice job with parts of the waterfront. I often pass through Nanaimo, usually enroute to Victoria, but rarely stop. Now that Ms. Erica has mentioned a couple of worthwhile restaurants, perhaps I will take time to pause in Nanaimo.

Long past it's hayday. Use to be an awesome town when bath tub weekend was affiliated with Vancouver. And yes Acme is now long gone, I fondly remember Dots restaurant, just a little greasy spoon with the best burgers in town and famous for its mile high lemon murange pie. All the original restaurants seemed to have dissapeared from the downtown core. The Rendezvous, Acme, the Modern cafe, all gone. She's just a shell of her former pre 80's recession glory when that little town would be booming 24/7. I miss the good old days. Now it's just strip mall chain restaurants that you see in every other town.
It was a really neat little blue collar town, kinda sad now, no more logging and the Stevadors seem to have moved to Duke point. Back in the day you could catch the old CPR ferry from downtown nanaimo to downtown van, it even had a bar in the back of the ship.
Bathtub weekend use to be one big party. The night life was pretty good, Loverboy use to play a place called Tivolie's before they got famous. Now it's just a red neck town, all the old cool restaurants have been replaced with hipster joints.

Always loved Nanaimo when I used to compete there every year. Friendly people and the whole port-town thing just reminded me of home.

I do love living in Nanaimo because I have so many awesome friends there and there is no traffic, some homes are beautifully cared for, and it's quite serene, nice scenery, kindhearted people, although there are 2 sides to every coin.

Recently over the last year it has become more sketchy, so many people who book-and-cancel, which makes it so challenging to work there and be available for folks who really want to meet up. The amount of hard drug use has skyrocketed, such a shame.

There are a few amazing solid gents there which I love to see when I am there, and we mutually enjoy each others' company, and the main reason why I do not move entirely to another city. The cost of living is lower as well, but it is still a hub city making it easy to travel around the world, which works great for touring ladies.

The restaurants are simply amazing, I cannot believe how good the food is in Nanaimo compared to other cities in Canada, where the quality is of utmost importance. Firehouse grill's stuffed avocado is to die for, Marina's Taverna for Greek and Manvirros or Gateway to India for East Indian. The Modern cafe is usually open late, with great and friendly service, as well as Brewsters right next to it, The Vault cafe a couple of great Thai, Lebanese and Israeli food also for lunch or dinner. Its funny how many restaurants are downtown compared to population. I have actually so many ideas on how to revive the downtown, as I believe the downtown defines a city, and it would be nice to see it hustling and bustling in that little sweet spot, bring more people into downtown so the businesses down there not only survive, but thrive. First thing, get rid of the old A&B Sound building and put up a 10 story condo with shops below, attached parking lot with upper and lower entrances... would be epic and great Fengshui.

It's definitely more fun to your with girlfriends! I went to Kelowna with Aellyn and Angel this summer, then Angel and I went to LA and next month I'm going on my first tour w Evelyn Snow, we're going to Toronto, so I'm excited. It's always fun to book off a free day or 2 to just hang out with your girlfriends in a different city, or even just grab a class of wine in the hotel bar and gossip between clients. I'm sorry you had those negative experiences! I really like your idea of not providing the secret answer until you arrive, that makes so much sense, and I never even thought about it!

Well Ms Parker, I've been getting requests for Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, & Toronto! I'll also be in Kelowna next month. I'd love to put together an ESCORT RETREAT at the Sparkling Hills Resort: owned (& decorated!!!) by Swarovski. I hear the spa is to DIE FOR. March will find me travelling to part of this country I have never seen before; the Northwest Territories! That won't be a tour though, but an exclusive engagement that I'm simply THRILLED about. I'd love to put together an ESCORT RETREAT (escortcon?) at the Sparkling Hills Resort: owned (& decorated!!!) by Swarovski.

mmm Swarovski you say?? Keep me posted re: dates etc, we should get a hold of local photographers etc, mmm I'll find out more about this location and see if I know of anyone willing to take pics... probably 3 photographers would be ideal.

Yes, Alice's is a classic spot, there's another one we are trying next time, 2 chef's salmon Bennie... that's all I need to say!!! They make their own ketchup. We should go dancing at Koncept next time too, or the Queen's on Sun Blues nite... yeah, the music, arts and culture scene is always amazing though. Hippies and Rednecks!! Lol Yes tours are better with Friends, I've toured with Alexis DVyne and Mistress Red, we had a blast!

Ok editing the post to say not sure if it's appropriate for a photoshoot, it look super low-key but mmm, looks like an amazing escape!!! I'm in either way!

Let's not forget about the SHOPPING!!! Yes, shopping. One of my favourite shops in Nanaimo is called 'catwalk' and during my last trip, they had a wonderful 2 for 1 sale on & I bought 2 dresses for $100! :D Ran across THREE great lingerie boutiques too, one of which I could see out my hotel bedroom window!

I have fond memories of Nanaimo. Always traveled by Harbor Air float plane. My last trip there was in 2013. I was supposed to be there for a meeting in the morning; so got to the terminal in Coal Harbor. It was a foggy morning. The airline kept postponing departure at least a half dozen times, before finally canceling for the day around noon. I had to get to Nanaimo at any cost, even if late for the meeting. So, went home, got my vehicle and drove to Horseshoe Bay and took the ferry to the island. The meeting happened; only late by about 6 "short" hours.

That night I stayed at Coast Bastion. I felt lonely and called a lady who advertised on BP and EL (the former name LL). Tauria arrived and I went down to the lobby to escort (no pun) her up (access card was required). She said she was a student at VIU in some digital art program. It's now been a few years, but one thing I remember still very well is the BJ she gave me. She made herself comfortable between my thighs, her creamy white large set of breasts pressed against my thighs, her eyes set on mine. Her face seemed blissfully at ease and she was in no rush to end it.

I don't see her ads any more.

In another visit, I stayed at Best Western Dorchester on Church Street, just a block away from Coast Bastion. I had a visitor at night, a lady whose hair was dyed pink. I'm not too crazy about unnatural hair color, but I wasn't about to send her away. When she was undoing her bra, I noticed that she had two pairs on. I was surprised and exclaimed, "You have two pairs, but why?" She giggled and said she wanted to enhance her curves.

On another occasion, I had some time to kill and roamed around downtown Nanaimo and went to a night club on, I think, Chapel Street, not too far from Best Western. One lady having a drink at the bar smiled. I felt a bit awkward (I don't have much experience with bar and club scenes) but smiled back. Within minuted we were out of the club and went to another club which was much less crowded. Things started to heat up and we were all over each other. Ended up going to my hotel, made out, and she went down on me. When I wanted to undress her, she said she had period. I was hot and bothered and said I didn't care, but she said she's not comfortable but was willing to go to Greece.

In another visit, I went to a strip club and had my first ever experience with lap dance. Didn't do much for me. I was at the club for good two hours or so and all that time a great looking girl gave me company. Even now I often wonder if I should have asked to go out with me. I will never find out if she would say yes or no.

By the way, it was in Nanaimo that I bought my most favorite pair of jeans.

Nice review of a place a lot of people never think about.

The approach from either direction on the Island Highway is probably one of the ugliest, and least inviting stretches anywhere in BC.

Used to be a strong Hells Angels presence in town. Not sure if it's still that way.

Nanaimo does have some very good restaurants - two are Greek - the already mentioned Marina's and Asteras. A tough choice - but at least Asteras is open for lunch. We have a very good English style pub located off Hwy 19, south of the city. If you are not familiar with the area it is best to ask Google for some help in locating it - it is the Crow and Gate. In the downtown area there is the Nest, which is somewhat upscale, with a limited but interesting menu.

It's not as obvious...the " Support Red & White Shop" is gone from downtown, I know that much.

I've been to Sparkling Hill and I totally concur with your friend, the food is terrible! BUT they have amazing spas. At night the pool and sauna area becomes "clothing optional!" Lots of fun. People walking around naked trying out a variety of saunas. I think there are 8 in total. Also, the view from the rooms is spectacular!! It's a beautiful area.
And, helicopter friendly!! ;D
