@the Meat Market!!!lol
for people who are interested, here is a really great article on why we shouldn't believe the hype, and how the hype causes our community harm....i hope this helps for some people who have fears about the actual numbers of trafficking victims in our industry...90% of us are NOT pimped or controlled...i know that for clients it can be worrisome to wonder if you are contributing to harm...

Despite increasing interest in human trafficking and related exploitation, a great deal of anti-trafficking work still appears to be based on assumptions that are not well-proven or adequately questioned. Policy formations, advocacy campaigns, concrete interventions and popular understandings of trafficking have all been accused of making exaggerated claims and resting on thin, if any, evidence. There is an almost obsessive desire to know the scale, proportion, size, major sectors and geographical concentrations of human trafficking. Similarly, the monitoring and evaluation of interventions prioritise numbers of people reached rather than any significant change in knowledge or behaviour. This focus on quantification has come at the expense of quality and a true understanding of the lives of the migrants and trafficked persons it is supposed to benefit.

This issue of the Anti-Trafficking Review explores the role of evidence, research and data in anti-trafficking work and how they influence our understanding of the issue and responses to it. Contributors examine the evidence used—or rejected—in the formation of national anti-trafficking policies in Northern Ireland, Canada and India, as well as the role of statistics, and monitoring and evaluation of anti-trafficking interventions. In the debate section, four authors take turn defending or rejecting the proposition 'Global Trafficking Prevalence Data Advances the Fight against Trafficking in Persons'.

I think prostitution in general is a hot topic, so many people have an agenda or a belief structure and are blinded by it,

what is wrong is the attitude you bring to sex. the circumstances around your sexuality and your attitude doesn't matter if you pay or not, that has nothing to do with sex being right or wrong.
you can be a creep and an ass hole predator, but your not breaking any laws, because your not paying,
you can be the nicest guy, but pay a lady, and your breaking a law.

sex is not right or wrong, its the attitude the character and the circumstances of the people involved. paying or not paying is way to simple an equation.

There is a big "rescue industry" with people making a living off the trafficking crisis.
Joy Smith has acheived celebrity status among the right wing by ranting about it.

And unfortunately people vote based on emotion instead of reason.

The "rescue" industry is nothing but a money grab and it's for ppl who want to "police" other ppls body and assert their morality into consenting adults lives.

Want to see what's really going on in the "rescue" industry? Check out Laura Agustin, Mistress Matisse, ENBrown, Maggie Macneil, Carol Fenton (all on Twitter). Stay the fuck away from Julie Bindel, Melissa Farley, Trisha Baptie, Rachel Moran (all on Twitter and all anti sexwork)

Its like i said in another thread. If the police really wanted they could send undercovers to all the backpage adds and arrest all the pimps and exploits in a couple of days.
But they dont do that do they? So its some unsavory propaganda.

There is a strip joint a few blocks from my house with a big bill board in front that has been rented by christians for like 20 years. Those cults just love to stick their noses into everything.

Very true.
But then the fake jobs with good paying government grants aka our tax dollars.
And those groups grasp for the lime light would be over.
So they intentionally want to be ineffective so their cushy jobs can go on.

"The minimum legal age for a prostitute in Amsterdam has been raised from 18 to 21..."

"Estimates put the number of prostitutes working in Amsterdam at between 5.000 and 8.000, but the number of these workers affected by human trafficking and exploitation is uncertain. Estimates range between as low as 8 percent and as high as 90 percent."

"It is hoped that the raising of the legal age will help stem these abuses based on evidence that younger sex workers are more susceptible to coercion. It is also thought that a certain amount of maturity is required for participation in the industry."
