In Your Wildest Dreams!
I'm not good at it...I don't do it well, and past a certain point I do it very badly.

Take today as an example. I had an appointment set with someone (NOT A CLIENT) to be at my home this morning at 10 am. They aren't here yet. Unfortunately, my day cannot proceed any further until they have come and gone, and the later they get, the more annoyed I become. The last time they were supposed to be here, I waited over 90 minutes past when they were supposed to arrive...and had to put off clients to do so.

I do not like turning people away because other people do not have the courtesy to show up when they say they are going to! Not only do I have to stall my clients, but my tenant downstairs has to stall HER clients (she is an esthetician, and a GOOD one...) too, so all of us are sitting tight, and feeling antsy and annoyed while the minutes tick by...Is a simple courtesy phone call too much to ask? At 10 minutes past the appointment time, you call and say you're running late. At 30 minutes past, I am going to be pissed off enough to ask that you please schedule your visit for a time you can actually GET there...and not 'Close to a time when you feel it's convenient to inconvenience ME'! If I were waiting for a client, I'd be slightly annoyed. If I were waiting for a service provider, I'd be PISSED!

So it's now nearly 25 minutes past the appointed time, and my temper is flaring. You've seen my temper flare; it's not a pretty sight. My Irish is coming out, and all I can say is CLEAR THE DECKS and batten down the hatches!

hahahaha ... in my younger more "whatever" days I used to keep people waiting only because they would! And I just figured I am not going to chase a clock, so I'll be there when I get there. I still do not chase a clock, but I am much better at time management and a lot more respectful of other people's time and schedules.

All that said - if I am expecting someone at a certain time and they are late without letting me know they are going to be late I do not wait longer than 15 - 20m ... then I am outy!

I don't get some people. I am a stickler for being on time and if by chance I am running late, I always communicate.

I have had SP's keep me waiting 30 minutes and by the 45 minute mark my last text says "see yah".

The Service People are the ones that will have a really wide window i.e. Shaw or say an appliance repair person. Their dispatch will say "will be there between 09:00 and 5 PM" . I am flabbergasted that they can not say within at least two hours of when they will arrive. It basically hogties you to your house for the whole day.

It is also interesting how different cultures view time and appointments. I remember reading somewhere in Germany, you arrive 5 minutes early so that the 10AM meeting can start at 10AM. In North America, you arrive at 10 so it can start at 10:05. In South America and southern Europe arriving at 10:30 would not be considered late.

With your Irish luck when he does show up he will be south east Asian with a hardon. But your Scottish roots will save you by allowing him to come in and do whatever it is you want him to so you won't have to endure the lost revenue from seeing non-south east Asians. ;) har har har
