Does anyone know what date bill C-36 will receive royal assent? What do you think will happen to the industry in Winnipeg?

Not Always Sure...

It's critical for everyone to educate themselves about this new law. Large thread in the lounge about it.

According to Senator Jaffer Bill C-36 is scheduled to receive Royal Assent tomorrow, November 6th.
All provisions of the act pass into law 30 days after Royal Assent, so that's December 6th assuming he's correct.

How it affects Winnipeg will depend on how it is enforced. Currently enforcement is sporadic and unpredictable; there's no reason to think that will change.
Read to the end of this thread:

What the industry will look like in the new year is anybody's guess. Personally I'm out, but everyone should do their own risk assessment and not do anything stupid.

This scares me pretty good as well. Likely going to hide under a rock for the most part, maybe peek out for a VIP trip here and there, guessing this will also make being a sugar daddy a jail term as well, WTF.
Guessing even the old school Asian massage from Karen n Helen won't be safe either,

This is going to be a game changer, not even the so called Massage places are exempt. I myself have already made arrangements, but you won't see me in " The game" anymore once this is passed. Why would you risk your Life for this hobby. Imagine your caught and charged, your workplace will know, family and you now have a criminal charge.....pretty scary stuff.

I'm the one who should give out advice Jethro:p
You're right. I never meant to imply you need advice. All the newbies would benefit greatly from your wisdom but you'll still need the portable Cone of Silence. ;)

For those of you who don't know, the adventures of PedroPistol and "Little Pedro" (all decked out in his mask and cape) are legendary.

I posted this at CERB

The overwhelming majority of players both sp's and clients don't belong or participate on the various boards and I dare say some of have no idea C-36 is even coming down or what it might or might not mean. So obviously there will be some casualties and I assume ignorance will not be excused. There will be media coverage on the initial arrests and disposition of the charges for sure. Once that happens and a clearer picture is available there will be a further review of participation for some.

Each individual will measure the risk/reward based on their personal situations. Whether it be career related or life related. Opinions expressed here are just that......opinions as no one knows for sure what the level of law enforcement will be and the ramifications of same.

I respect the whistle through the grave yard types even though personally I think some of of it is a bit of bravado and even a little naive and I also respect the very concerned types whom might come across as a little paranoid or jumping the gun.

In any event times they are a changing and there will ultimately be a new normal and how long that takes is really anybodies guess.

Peace
MG

It's nice to know that with the increased threat of terrorism in Canada, the growing gang related problems that the various LE's would have the time to enforce such a silly poorly written piece of legislation!

Good thing Perb is not in Canada anymore. Any advertising site hosted in Canada will be a target as well as print ads. I didn't even know print ads were still around.

WHAT THE HELL! This is not happening. This is NOT happening. How could they do this? MP's visit SP's. LE visit SP's. I feel like this is something an Islamic State would do.

Since making pornography is permissible maybe SP's could make their own websites that produce huge volumes of low quality porn. For example clients could come and wear a mask if they want to stay anonymous and then the video could be published online. If an SP wants to stay anonymous then they can wear a mask too. If the camera is low resolution and at a bad angle that doesn't show very much of the people's faces, too bad, that's art, its still porn. If only 1 out of 20 videos actually gets posted, again, too bad, that's show business for you. Maybe the videos don't have to be published online at all, just recorded and saved to disc.

Hmmm. It seems someone tried this in the US.

The only issue I had with what Victoria quoted from Loneskater was that in Winnipeg before the internet all the best Sps worked in the parlors escort agencies were always horrible. I recall trying women who had ads in the newspaper but I don't recall any good ones. With C 36 I fully expect the Police will have all the MPs shuttered and out of business within 6 months. Another issue is he mentions only discussing sexual services in private this means nothing if you're meeting an sp for the first time and it ends up being a police sting prostitution is illegal communicating in private doesn't change this. I don't expect the police to spend too much time running stings but If you don't think they won't be posting fake ads where you'll meet an undercover cop in a hotel 3or 4 times a year you're kidding yourselves.
