Rolling Stones
I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to see these guys play before they gave it up, but I saw them last night and it was the best show I've ever seen, bar none. And I've seen some great performances. No I'm not a boomer, but I am a die hard Stones fan (was listening to them in the womb) and I am so glad I got the chance to see these legends perform. I have never seen any group give it up so much, so energetically, as these guys. I, at half their age, would not have had a hope of keeping up with Mick's energy and endurance.
I can tell you, no one in the world had more fun than me & my buds last night! No one!
The show rocked. Sympathy for the Devil had to be one of my personal highlights, but Honky Tonk Woman, Brown Sugar, Shine a Light (with BonniefuckingRaitt!) were definitely high points for me too.
The moment that brought tears to my eyes: Mick introduced all the performers, extras first, then the group, and then Keith. KEITH! OMG the crowd really gave it to him - the love and admiration in the room was palpable. The energy ramped up, then up, then UP some more! He was visibly moved by the crowd's adulation... he said the only words that I actually understood out of his mouth all night when he covered his eyes and said, "I don't know what to do now."
Absolutely amazing! I am really grateful I got the opportunity to see these guys. The last show of the (I know it's been said before but really can there be more after this?) last tour. They gave it their all, and yes, they were great.
