I think Fred was switching to a more powerful server so it was down temporarily.
That's correct we were switching servers that's why.

Is loading the ad slowing us down?

Has anything changed with loading the top corner ad?

Used to be able to move back and forth from PERB page to page without the top corner ad slowing things down.
If the PERB (and TERB) servers are faster, but the ad server is slower, doesn't this mean that the sum of the parts will still be slower? We are only as fast as the slowest server. The other server where the ad is on.

Are we now going to a "remote" server and not a "local" server to load the ad?

If the banner is not loading or laoding slowly the problem is likely at the website for the advertiser : not much we can do until the advertiser fixes the problem at their end.

Perb & Merb are now on their own but the new TERB server is powerful enough to host all 3.

New server thats a good one!

I rember this time when I was in a bar in Chichago and this server came up to me and asked if I wanted company tonight. So, being a hobbyist I said I would love that!

So goes over to the guy sitting on the other side of the bar and says that he should come over and talk with me because I'm looking for company too.

Classified ad is at a remote server.

The classified ad is at a remote server, but is the web-master allowed to choose to make it the last item to load on the page?

He still gets his all important advertising page hits, and we get to read the posts in the mean time, while the ad is the last thing to load.
